The Bottom Line:
I would recommend this to everyone that has a laptop and wants to use an older keyboard and mouse.
I found myself in a situation where I needed to attach a PS/2 keyboard and mouse to a laptop computer after I recently had to replace desktop computer with a laptop at work. The new Dell laptop we had didn’t have the keyboard and mouse ports on the back and I didn’t have a USB keyboard or mouse to give them. After discussing my dilemma with my boss, he told me what type of adapter I needed and ordered one for me. `
The adapter he purchased was a Belkin USB-to-PS/2 Adapter F5U119.
Belkin USB-to-PS/2 Adapter
It came packed in one of those indestructible bubble plastic packages with an easy open pop tab on the back. This made opening the package very easy and within a few seconds I had the adapter out of the package.
The adapter was pretty simple in design, on one end it had a USB connector and the other end it had two PS/2 connectors. The two PS/2 (miniDin) connectors, which were color coded in the center (not the connector) to match the purple (Keyboard) and green (mouse) of the keyboard and mouse connectors. The total length of the adapter was about 12” and it was covered in a bendable dark grey plastic covering.
Installation was pretty simple and it didn’t require any drivers to make it work so none were provided by Belkin in the package.
My final thoughts
As with all Belkin products I have used, this USB-to-PS/s was of the highest quality and we haven’t had any issues with it at all. Belkin is one of the largest makers of computers accessories and they make just about everything a person would need to connect to their computer. The only requirements to use this adapter according to Belkin are an open USB port and a Windows OS (Win98SE to WinXP).
I cannot think of any reason not to recommend this product to everyone, it has met all of our expectation and I am sure it will meet yours.
