I mentioned in my review of Smashbox Double Exposure Lip and Cheek Stain that their stain doesn't last nearly as long as Benefit Benetint Rose-Tinted Cheek & Lip Stain.That is completely true. This little bottle of liquid magic flushes my cheeks and lips beautifully and stays put until I take it off.

Packaging

This product comes in a glass nail polish-like jar. The glass is clear and the top is white. When you unscrew the top, there is a small nail polish-like brush applicator attached. This stain is a thin red liquid that smells like roses. You get .40 ounce of liquid which lasts for a long time.

My Experience

I have used Benefit Benetint Cheek & Lip Stain on and off for years. It wasn't until we experienced an electrical fire in our home about a month ago and we had to gut the house in near 100 degree temperatures that I finally fell in love with it.

This cheek and lip stain is like no other. It is a liquid that brushes on or you can remove the brush and put your finger over the opening of the jar. I paint a few feathery strokes of the red liquid on one cheek, blend, then do the other. Because it is a stain, if you leave it on your face too long without blending, it will look streaky which is why I do one side, blend, and then do the other side.

The scent of Benefit Benetint Cheek & Lip Stain is just like fresh cut roses. I am not a rose person at all but I like the scent of this product. It is fresh and very different from any other cosmetic I have used. It isn't so strong that it gets my allergies going and it is gone by the time I blend the color into my skin.

I also use this stain on my lips for a very natural flush of color. I use the brush and simply apply as I would any lip product. The stain dries to a sheer flush on both my cheeks and lips and doesn't dry out my skin.

As for staying power, this stuff does NOT budge. I have applied it to my lips and cheeks at 8 a.m., gone to my house and worked like a dog in sweltering temperatures and record humidity, perspired, wiped off my face, wore a face mask (to try to keep my severe dust allergy at bay) and my cheeks and lips looked as rosy and healthy as when I left the motel I am holed up in until we get the house back to livability.

This stain is sheer and perfect for any skin tone. I have medium skin with a slight tan and it looks fabulous on me now. It also looks great on me in the winter when I am a few shades paler. My sister has a more olive tone to her skin and she tried my Benefit Benetint Cheek & Lip Stain and it looked great on her as well.

You only need a few little strokes of the brush for the perfect flush. I sometimes wear a sheer powder blush over this stain but usually don't. I don't need to. This does it all and looks very natural yet wakes up my skin and gives me a just pinched flush of color. On my lips, it is a sheer reddish tone that enhances my natural rosiness and looks completely natural, as if I am not wearing anything on them yet they are much rosier. Unlike many stains, Benefit Benetint Cheek & Lip Stain doesn't dry out my lips or fade in a weird way. It doesn't give me prune lips or leave a ring around them.

When we vacated the house, I only brought a few cosmetics with me, this stain was one of the few. I have worn it everyday in heat so high that I thought I would melt yet this stain never ran, faded, or budged. I don't think any other product could hold up to the rigors I put Benetint through. It's truly a wonderful product and worth every cent.

At night, I use my usual facial cleanser and the stain washes right off with no residue left behind. I have not experienced any irritation, breakouts, or negative issues when using this stain.

Benefit Benetint Cheek & Lip Stain is available at stores on and offline that carry higher end beauty products as well as right on the Benefit Cosmetics website. It is $28.00 a bottle which will last a good long time even with daily use. I got my last bottle on eBay, new and sealed, for $14.00, a real steal. I have no issues paying full price for this though because it truly lasts and looks great for as many hours as I want it to.

Conclusion

I love Benefit Benetint Cheek & Lip Stain! It is my favorite cheek stain and I also love it as a lip stain. It looks very natural, as if the glow and flush comes from within instead of from a bottle. Even on my lips, it gives me a "just bitten" look rather than a done up one. I often use this stain before I apply glosses because, once the gloss wears off, I still have a pretty rosy pout underneath. I give this stain a hearty 5 star rating and highly recommended it. If you use just one blush, this one should be the one.
