Bose Lifestyle 50 Home Theater System is a Dream System!
| Author's Rating: |
|
Pros: Looks good!
Cons: Costs too Much and doesnt have enough expansion possibilities!
The Bottom Line:
My final word, it is an over priced system!
Small with the power of some of the Big Systems! This is a Home Theater System that can be placed almost anywhere. Yes everything with the system is small, the biggest part is the subwoofer and you can just hide it somewhere like behind your couch.
The system can also be hidden out of sight since the remote works from any room in the house as long it is within 65 ft. from the receiver.
THE SYSTEM
Personal Music Center
This is the control of the system with the convenience of placing it in your lap to control the system. It is rounded rectangular in size of 8 3/4 inches across left to right, 4 1/8 inches from the top to the bottom and only 1 3/8 inches thick.
The Personal Music Center has a screen that you control by touching the screen to adjust your volume, play CDs, change radio stations and control the whole system and most add-ons. It is a beautiful command center that looks like it is from the future.
The Receiver
The receiver is an AM/FM stereo with 50 presets and a built in 6-CD changer. It measures 15 ½ inches wide, 8 inches deep and 2 5/8 inches in height, very small and sleek.
CD Changer
The 6 CD changer is hidden in the receiver, they use a 6 CD caddy to hold the CDs in the player.
The Speakers
The satellite speakers are small, only 4 ½ inches high, 2 ¼ inches wide and 3 ¼ inches in depth. There are 5 satellite speakers included for the front, left, right & center speakers and rear left and right speakers.
The Subwoofer
Their subwoofer is know as an Acoustimass module that measures 14 inches in height, 23 3/8 inches wide and 7 ½ inches deep.
The subwoofer has two 5 1/4" speakers and three acoustic chambers built in.
Multi-Room Interface
There is a Multi-room interface that measures 2 1/8 inches high, 7 3/8 inches wide and 4 inches deep.
With the Multi-room interface you can setup different rooms for sound and actually play the CD music in one room while listening to the FM radio in another. Though you will have to add some more speakers and possibly some other add-ons available through Bose.
Other Features
Direct-Reflecting Speaker Technology - that can bounce the sound from the walls, ceiling or the floor.
100-Watt system
Dolby Digital 5.1-channel Decoding
Total system weighs 59.5 lbs
The Cons!
The price of $3499!
Not including DTS and THX sound for a 6.1 or 7.1 sound setup.
A pricey system like this should be more than a 100-Watt system.
A DVD player will work with it but it lacks the right hookups for the proper setup and sound.
Installation for the whole system will be confusing to a lot of consumers. (A little complicated for most!)
My Advice!
Go to a good dealer and ask them for help and pick out a receiver that is at least Dolby 5.1 and DTS ready. Spend about $500 for the receiver. Next get a 5.1 or 6.1 speaker system for under $1000, buy a 200 DVD and CD changer for around $500.
Now you should have a system that will blow the Bose Lifestyle 50 Home Theater System away for around $2000 or less.
My Final Say!
The Bose Lifestyle 50 Home Theater System is a nice system that can be hidden or placed almost anywhere because of its small size.
The Personal Music Center is beautiful and nice!
The sound system is clear but the subwoofer lacks a little Boom in it. Not enough power for a $3499 system!
