Some BOSE for your APPLE (updated Jan 2010)

Pros: Great sound, Easy to use, Charges iPOD and great LOOK. And LONG LASTING!

Cons: The CRADLE area is loose and doesn't hold older generation iPODS firmly.

The Bottom Line: 
BOSE has a great reputation for sound in home and in car. Try it, you will love it.  WE STILL DO!

I've heard about the BOSE Sound Dock, I've seen it on TV, seen it at Best Buy, seen it advertised in magazines and even been to a BOSE Store and played with it. That's when I knew I had to have it. I happen to have my iPOD with me when I went to the store and I undocked there display iPOD and used mine to get some of my JAMS heard on the speakers. It blew me away how incredible the sound was from a small 12" X 6" Box (appx).

By the way, the system CHARGES YOUR iPOD while it's docked!

There are only two control buttons on the DOCK which is the sound controls. + for increase and - for decrease. Other than that all is based off the remote, which is also limited. All the remote does it PLAY, PAUSE, Forward, Reverse/Restart, Sound Up, Sound Down, and OFF. If you want to swap through your iPOD menu you'll have to go do it yourself on the iPOD either docked or undocked. I recommend if you play with it while it's docked use both hands, it's not firmly held on tight and it will sway a little if you press the iPOD buttons. Or just undock it and get it where you want and then dock it again.

SETUP time basically takes less than 5 minutes. Unwrapping from the box takes the longest and just looking through all the stuff the SOUND DOCK comes with. So basically, the power cord comes in two pieces, hook them up and plug into the wall and you are done. There is no GREEN ON button or RED OFF button or anything like that. Basically it's ready for use once you plug it into the wall and sit and iPOD on it. EASY as 1-2-3!

I remember back in the days (80's) they use to sell HUUUUGE BOOMBOXES like the kind you saw on DO THE RIGHT THING (the movie). If you couldn't curl 30lbs or more you couldnt walk around with those suckers. They would take up lots of room in your entertainment center or TABLE area. BOSE has not only renovated that era of BOOMBOX type sound in your home, it has made it stylish and able to fit in any small area in your house and still be able to hear the great sound in every room in your house up to about 2200 sq ft.(which is how big my house is, and actually heard the sound from every room). So it may easily handle a bigger place.

The PRICE. Yes... it's a hefty one - $299 plus tax. I haven't really seen anything lower than that. But i'm gonna tell you right now find your nearest BOSE OUTLET or BOSE FACTORY STORE. I bought mines at VERO BEACH, FL BOSE Factory outlet for $229. With Taxes I basically saved around $74 dollars going to the Factory Store. The salesmen said "you will only find this deal in our factory stores". Don't mistake, they did have them there for $299 aswell, but they had a stack of specials all over the store on other items also. Oh and while you are there, check out the Companion 5 system for your computer speakers... AMAZING!

I have also seen the CLUB STORES (costco, sams club, bjs) have specials by selling the CASE ($45) and the sound dock ($299) for around $339.00 which might be around a $40 savings if you are looking to get both items.


Last Notes... this is primarily made for APPLE's iPOD. It does come with various docking cradles to use the NANO 2GB up to the iPOD video. Don't expect to use any other MP3 on this system.

It's a great system... I recommend saving some money for this buy if you are an avid iPOD user and love great sound. Oh and btw... did I mention it charges your iPOD?

I still have my BOSE iPOD station... running like a champ. WE  have moved it all over the house for parties, weekend house work but it mostly goes back to the master bathroom for the morning sounds as we get ready for our DAY.  My wife docks her iPHONE to the BOSE station and she plays the SLACKER radio app and its just amazing. 
This has to go down as one of my best PURCHASES EVER made.
