The Bottom Line:
Effective, great connectivity & range
I was in the market for a new wireless router when my Netgear router had died (likely from overheating). I wanted something that would be more durable and easy to use. I had set up wireless networks previously and found the instructions very straight-forward. In the couple of months I have had the Buffalo router, I have yet to experience a drop in coverage and connection -- which was a major annoyance and frustration found to happen here and there with other brands.
I have not called their customer service and cannot speak for the quality of their support. I have checked the internal menus you can pull up from the IP address connected to your router. I saw they cover a very decent array of troubleshooting and offer lots of "tweaks" for the more advanced user.
Since my prior router seemed to have overheated, I was glad to see this Buffalo design appears much more rugged and allows for airflow through. Those with small children or pets can use the bracket and fasteners which come with the router to mount it to a wall, preventing it from being knocked over. I was very pleased with the purchase and highly recommend this router.
