Burt’s Bees Milk & Honey lotion makes me smell so good, the bees chase me!

I am amazed at Burt’s Bees fine collection of lotions, make up, foot crèmes, I cannot say enough about them. As previously mentioned in my review of their lip shimmer, I hope the purchase by Clorox recently doesn’t change how the items are made!

Ingredients

One thing I love about the Burt’s Bees collections are that they do not test on animals! Besides that, they try to get the most natural products to market. This item being no exception is 98.20% natural and contains the following ingredients:

Filtered water, sunflower seed oil, vegetable glycerin, coconut oil, stearic acid (vegetable fat), beeswax, fragrance, glucose (sugar), honey, milk powder, orange wax, tocopheryl acetate & tocopherol (Vitamin E), rosemary leaf oil, sucrose stearate (sugar emulsifier), aloe barbadensis leaf juice, xanthan gum (natural thickener), sodium borate (natural borax), vegetable oil & beta carotene, glucose oxidase & lactoperoxidase (natural enzymes).

My Experience

When I apply this lotion, I feel very smooth and silky. I feel like I smell like a jar of honey! The smell is beautiful as it smells natural and smells pleasant.
The color is a big thing that really makes your mind think you are putting honey on your skin, though. Do you remember the Bit O’ Honey candies? It looks just like those but in liquid form! (Imagine the flavor of the candy caressing your mouth and taste buds…this is what I imagine this lotion could taste like.) On a side note, be sure that you DO NOT TRY EATING OR DRINKING THIS PRODUCT.)

Back to reality thought! I enjoy the smell almost enough to want to eat it, as it smells luscious.

The bottle that it comes in (which is made of 96% post-consumer recycled pellets made of milk jugs, soda bottles and the like and can be recycled again with your #2 plastics) is a flip top cap. It’s not a pump-able bottle. When you turn the bottle over to squeeze out some to apply to your skin, be sure to squeeze slowly as it comes out fast and is very liquid.

My skin seems to take a little bit to absorb this lotion, as I have to rub it into my skin longer than I do with other moisturizers. But, when it’s in your skin, it leaves a great feeling of soft, supple, terrific smelling skin.

Another thing I notice with this moisturizer, I can smell it on my skin throughout the day. When you have a shirt or pants on, and you change into your pajamas at night, I can still smell the scent (albeit somewhat faded) on my skin. This lets me know the moisturizer is still protecting me.

When using this product on my hands, I notice when washing, that it seems as though I have a lightweight glove coating and protecting my skin. I can best compare it to the bead job on a car after you have given your car a great hand wash and wax and you really got the wax and the rain beads up whenever it rains!

That gives me comfort in knowing that my skin is protected.
They claim this is gentle enough for your face too. I have tried using it there, but I don’t recommend it daily as it does seem a bit heavy for facial moisturizing.


Suggestions

If you have a sensitive skin type, I think this would be a great product. If you have a sensitive nose, I think you should find a small trial sized version of this product (I have found them in Border’s and other places that I would have least expected to find this type of item.) It’s a great smell, but it might irritate you or others if they have a sensitive nose. A small trial version would give you a chance to try it without dropping a lot of money on the larger bottle only to find that you might not be able to use it!

Cons

The only real draw back that I have is that the product is just too runny for my taste. I would love for it to be a bit thicker. When I have tried putting this on my 4 year old after a bath, I have had the lotion run through my closed fingers because it is very runny.
Other than that, I really like the product and the way it makes my skin feel!

Overall Impressions

If you are looking for a more natural product to try on your skin, whether it’s sensitive skin or you just want to go a bit more natural rather than processed moisturizer, this is the product to try. I think you will like it. If you have someone on your list that enjoys lotions and pleasant scents, give them a small trial sized one in a small stocking stuffer! They will likely be pleasantly surprised, especially after trying it!
