Burt's Bees Milk & Honey Body Lotion: A Delicious Treat for Your Skin

During the summer I am very diligent about applying lotion to my legs and body, as I wear shorts most of the time. When winter rolls around I am not so attentive to this and as a result, my skin gets rather dry and itchy.

I had previously received a sample of Burt's Bees Milk & Honey Body Lotion from Drugstore.com and been thoroughly delighted with it. Not only did have a wonderfully sweet smell, but it did a fantastic job of moisturizing my skin.

Recently I spotted this product again, at Borders Books of all places, and on impulse decided to pick up a bottle to help deal with my dry winter skin.


About Burt's Bees Milk & Honey Lotion

According to the labeling on the 7 oz. bottle that I purchased, this lotion is "specially formulated for normal to dry skin." Aloe and Vitamin E are the active ingredients which naturally help "leave rough, flaky skin soft and smooth."

The lotion itself is a pale, peachy color. Unlike what you might expect for a body lotion, its consistency is somewhat on the thin side. However, it absorbs very quickly and is not at all greasy or sticky.

It comes packaged in a simple white plastic bottle manufactured from 96% post-consumer material (recycled pellets made of milk jugs, soda bottles, and the like). The pump top twists open and dispenses easily.

The lotion, like all Burt's Bees products, is not tested on animals.

My Experiences with Burt's Bees Milk & Honey Lotion

My skin, especially on my legs and elbows, was very dry and didn't feel that nice to the touch. Since I started using this product, I have seen a remarkable improvement.(And my husband has noticed it, too. No more crocodile skin!) I must admit that the lotion's wonderful natural smell makes it a big incentive to use. While I love to use perfume, I prefer my lotions to have a more natural smell.

However, be warned, too much of this lotion might interfere with your perfume. I usually apply the lotion directly after my shower and apply my perfume an hour or so later after the initial scent of the lotion has died down just a bit.

I find my skin stays nice and soft all day. Initially I was a little bit concerned that the thinner consistency of Burt's Bee Milk & Honey Body Lotion would not provide me with enough moisture, but that certainly hasn't been the case. Twelve hours after initial application my legs are looking great and my mid-winter scaliness has disappeared.

The pump dispenser, as I mentioned, is easy to use. I do not have to pump and pump and pump to get the lotion to come out as I have had to with some lotion dispensers. Nor do I need to use a lot of lotion to do a good job. I've got long legs and about 2 pumps per leg will do the trick.

My skin has not experienced any allergic reaction to this product.

Final Impressions

At $9.00 for a 7 oz. bottle, this lotion is certainly not a bargain hunters lotion. However, I believe in pampering oneself (especially as we grow older!) and therefore, I think Burt's Bees Milk & Honey Body Lotion is certainly a worthwhile investment. It really does do a good job and helps heal dry skin.

If you prefer unscented products, this lotion would not be a good choice for you, as it has a distinct sweet scent that does hang around for a while (about an hour with me). However, if you like a lightly scented lotion that isn't too overwhelming, Burt's Bee Milk & Honey Body Lotion may be just for you!
