Pros: - long battery life
- very small and portable
- a lot of camera for the money
Cons: - would like to have 4X or 5X optical lens.
I researched the Canon A1100 IS camera before buying one and have been very pleased with the results. The camera outperformed many others I've tried. The macro is excellent and has taken many beautiful closeups of our flower gardens. The 4X optical zoom for normal picture taking is a real bonus.
Another big feature is the optical viewfinder which makes it easy to take pictures outdoors in bright sunlight. The large LCD screen is ideal for indoors. Battery life is excellent using a pair of AA Lithium cells, and after 6 months of continuous shooting I'm still using the same pair.
Picture quality is excellent and I'm pleased with both indoor and outdoor results. Outdoor pictures in shady areas still show up without loss of detail. I ended up buying a second Canon A1100 for my wife who is also an avid photographer.
