Good underwater camera for snorkeling.  Well designed Canon quality.

We tried several underwater cameras for use in snorkeling and this was the best. First we tried digital still cameras in water proof cases. We had a hard time aiming them and rarely photographed a whole fish. We tried a digital movie camera with a flip out screen but the flipped screen made holding the camera steady hard and the screen was not bright enough to frame fish well. Also the battery compartment on this camera did not have good catch system and it opened in the water when my wife fell while getting out of the surf and the water got in and ruined the camera. The D10 was perfect. It has a bright screen and it is easy to see the fish and easy to tell when it is filming or not. It takes movies and stills. The battery compartment door is well constructed and locks tight. It is relatively easy to hold focused on a fish while watching the screen but much better than others we tried. Output is a QuickTime Movie .mov file, easy to process and edit on computer.  We purchased this in 2009 and have used it many times under water with no problems.
