Pros: Convenient & easy to carry camera. Pictures this camera renders are perfect for everyday shots.

Cons: Battery life could be longer, pictures could be a bit sharper. Charger not fast enough.

The Bottom Line:
Just what the doctor order, a small package with a big attitude! Pictures are Great and for its size.

I did my homework before my purchase and paid particular attention to the reviewers negatives on the net about this camera, it really boiled down to a 50/50 ratio of good vs bad from my point of view. So I decided to make my purchase and give it my own test run. I own 4 Canon Camera's to include the PowerShot A650 IS which also has 12.1 Meg Pixels but on a bigger sensor, so no side by side test were done by me, instead I decided to see how well I can make my pictures come out using the SD 780 IS and its smaller sensor on the Program Mode. Heres my formula with the camera set to Vivid, the ISO on Auto and most importantly the Digital Zoom set to Standard, the i-Contrast to Auto and the AF Frame set to Center.  My pictures came out uniquely perfect. Even in a pitch Dark Room the flash worked exceptionally well. One more thing I made sure the IS was set to Shoot Only. The SD 780 is a great camera for anyone who wants to take great to perfect pictures without having to lug around a brick. Granted that the pictures could be a little Sharper, but still looked great on an 8X10 print. I purchased  2 after market batteries and a 16GB Class 6 SDHC memory card, to give myself some room to play with, and so far, I am sure the novelty has worn off, but the pictures remain and continue to come out great. However, do not expect this camera to be a exceptional landscape camera or a super zoomer, it'll bring close to it but not completely. I wanted something I could carry in my pocket in a small camera bag and have to use at a moments notice, a "Pix & Run" if you will. Another asset is that this camera being so small and convenient to carry does in fact render you more pictures, or memories, since the hassle of large is not part of the equation, the only thing missing in the Ultra Compact size is a Weather Proof version!
