In Capcom vs SNK 2 EO Capcom resurrects old enemies for yet another battle. Capcom's Street Fighter characters, familiar to all but the newest or most sheltered video-game players and fighter fans, have starred in more games than should be possible. The game offers a remarkable assortment of fighters, fighting styles, and variety of play. Forty characters--each with their own special powers, attacks, timing issues, personalities and sound bites--get magnified three-fold by three separate "-isms" that alter their powers and three "grooves" that mix them up yet again. There's a lot to learn and it ensures that playing a foe of equal skill is never dull because you can never be sure what character he's going to pick and how that character will fight. The graphics are generally decent, though some of these fighters look like they haven't been spiffed up for today's console systems. The older Street Fighter guys look just plain bad next to newly added characters from the SNK stable. But the animation is smooth, the backgrounds have been significantly redone and feature new, often startling animations and the special effects are just plain awesome. The audio is pretty much the same old themes that Capcom has been using for the better part of a decade now. It's all good, because those sound effects are part of the reason fans keep buying the same game over and over again. The Xbox version is playable over Xbox Live (sold separately), which is a big advantage--everyone knows that these games, born of arcade coin-ops, are meant to be played competitively. The ability to start up a relatively lag free game at a moment's notice and trade trash talk with other gamers around the world is just priceless and a welcome addition to the series. If you are, or have ever been, a Street Fighter 2-D fight fan, then Capcom vs SNK 2 EO over Xbox Live is a joy not to be missed. --Andrew S. Bub

Maximo vs the Army of Zin is the long-awaited sequel to Capcom's 2002 PlayStation 2 classic, Maximo. The good news for fans of the original is that in Maximo 2 Capcom has improved on that experience in just about every way imaginable. As Maximo--the game's eponymous evil-ridding, polka-dotted-boxer-shorts-wearing hero--players take on the clockwork Army of Zin, whose sole intention is to wreak havoc in the game's villages and thereby send those villagers running wild with fright. Thank goodness, then, that Maximo is so well-equipped in his battle against the Army of Zin. Armed, as he is, with many new attacking options, Maximo offers players more possibilities than he did previously: not only are there 30 attacking moves to learn, but new pairs of boxer shorts equip Maximo with special offensive powers. (Or perhaps that should just be downright offensive...) All of which makes Maximo Vs the Army of Zin a truly riotous adventure. The game builds on the platform action found in its predecessor: Maximo leaps and bounds his way through a medieval cartoon world that is riddled with the nasty clockwork Army of Zin. As his adventure progresses, Maximo is rewarded with thanks and gifts from those grateful villagers whom he is able to rescue--which makes the adventure a thoroughly satisfying one. Combine that ingenious reward system with top-notch visuals and tight gameplay and you have a truly classic title. --Jonti Davies

Several years have passed since the Wilamette incident, and while Frank West was able to save America from a zombie apocalypse, the cause of zombification was not completely contained. This led to continued zombie outbreaks throughout the United States. Dead Rising 2 on XBox 360 shifts the action from the everyday world of mid-West America to the glitz and glamour of Fortune City, America's latest and greatest entertainment playground. People flock to Fortune City from around the globe to escape from reality and the chance to win big. Xbox 360 Dead Rising 2 sees the introduction of former national Motocross champion, Chuck Greene, as the main protagonist. Before he hit the big time with a team and sponsorship behind him Chuck was forced to repair his own bikes, leaving him incredibly resourceful; a real handyman. A single father, Chuck dotes on his daughter Katey who, since the loss of her mother, he will do anything for. With hundreds of zombies on screen at any one time, the original Dead Rising forced gamers to turn the everyday objects they found in the Mall into improvised weapons capable of fending off attacks. Dead Rising 2 for 360 promises to increase the carnage with even more zombies intent on feasting on human flesh and countless new objects with which Chuck can make the undead dead. ... Read more
Keen to add a different dimension to PlayStation 2 gaming, Capcom have gone underwater with Everblue, the PS2's first deep-sea-diving adventure game. The paper-thin plot revolves around the hunt for clues to the hidden underwater location of a mysterious treasure which has haunted the player's family for generations (apparently)--it's shaky at best, but then console games are rarely known for their cerebellum-stretching plots. Plotline is not what this rather excellent little adventure game is all about, though. Ignore the intro sequences and descend for some slow and rather peaceful action as you clump around the seabed using a wrist-mounted personal sonar to detect and gain hidden treasures, which can be sold to raise cash to upgrade your diving equipment to dive deeper and longer. It's difficult to pinpoint why this is such an engrossing title. Maybe it's the slower-than-average pace of the game, or the shoals of fish that swim lazily past or the intriguing underwater structures that need to be explored in full first-person 3-D. It's all a bit Ecco the Dolphin, only with fewer flippers. There's also a bizarre pseudo-adventure phase above the water where it's necessary to take your diver to get his finds valued and to bed him down for the night. It doesn't really add anything of great value to the game and acts as an unnecessary distraction, but for all the inconvenience it's only a minor gripe when put in context with the rest of the game. Producing something so different must have been a bit of a gamble for Capcom, but to their credit they've pulled it off. This really is a niche title, and it won't appeal to those who'd rather race craft on top of the waves than wander about over acres of seabed, but for those looking for a more relaxing console experience Everblue is really rather good. --Chris Russell

War Machine vs. Mega Man Video game Super Stars...Clash of the Super Heroes! Invented by millionaire industrialist Tony Stark, the War Machine Armor, also known as V.T.R.B.S. (Variable Threat Response Battle Suit), is worn by Stark's close friend and confidant James "Rhodey" Rhodes. The suit earned the name of War Machine because it is equipped with enough fire power to wage a large-scale war. The War Machine Armor is without question one of the most perfectly designed machines ever assembled. Dr. Light, a brilliant robotics scientist who had no son of his own, created a robot boy named Rock. But when his evil nemesis stole the technical data and robot blueprints and created his own army of evil robots, Dr. Light reprogrammed his "son" into Mega Man, the powerful defender with the heart of a boy in an indestructible robot body. In addition to his constant optimism and steel-willed determination, Mega Man's robotic armor has built-in hidden weapons and in times of trouble, Mega Man can power-up with armor attachments to become the mighty hyper Mega Man! But is Mega Man a friend or foe? Circuitry will be tested as these men of metal test their mettle against each other in a titanic clash of technology. War Machine features twin proton cannon projectiles, while Mega Man features clip-on hyper Mega Man armor.
