Lasted Two Years, Then Died

Pros: Appearance, price, settings.
Cons: Cheap construction underneath a tough appeance.
The Bottom Line:
I would not recommend this grinder, as it doesn't last any longer than much cheaper brand grinders.
This grinder worked well for about one year. After that, I noticed that it took longer and longer to grind the coffee at the desired grades. I usually grind my coffee betweem medium and fine grind so that I can have full flavored coffee. The grinder is about two years old as of today.
Today, I ground my evening coffee and I heard a "snap" and then something bouncing around inside the machine. I turned it upside down over the trash can, hoping something had fallen inside of it. But nothing came out. I then totally unscrewed the grinding bin on top and saw that the grinding wheels are held together by tiny little cheap screws.
The plastic connected to the top grinding wheel had lost two screws when the plastic they were screwed into had shattered, causing plastic pieces and the two screws to fall down. That was the "snap" and subsequent bouncing around I heard. I tried to drill out the very small screw holes and insert longer, thicker screws to see if that would extend its life. Unfortunately, the plastic was far too flimsy to accept a screw any larger than what was originally installed.
I think it's unbelievable that a company like Cuisinart would utilize such tiny little screws (connected to cheap plastic) to hold together comparatively much larger metal grinding wheels.
