In Control, a perfume by Britney Spears was launched in 2006. It is a follow-up to her 2004 Curious perfume. The main difference between the two is the lasting power and the depth of the fragrance.

In Control combines the scents of loquats, midnight orchid, creme brulee, black vanilla bean, tonka crystals, sandalwood, and musk. The scent starts off sweet and fruity, but soon mellows into a soft, sweet scent with the combination of creme brulee and vanilla being the dominate tones in this perfume. The undertones of musk and sandalwood do give this perfume an air of sensuality that is missing in other perfumes by Britney Spears.

While the scent of In Control lasts significantly longer than Curious you will need to reapply midday. The depth of the tones of In Control makes it more sensual than Curious.

This perfume is strong, but not overpowering. While Britney Spears other perfumes are appropriate for all ages, In Control is appropriate for older teens and adults. The sensuality in this perfume is not overwhelming and is earthy in nature which does not make it too strong for older teens, but does make it a bit too old for junior high girls.

In Control comes in a decanter with a spray applicator that would look at home on any Victorian vanity. The bottle is jet black with a hot pink top. The spray applicator attached to the bottle by a hot pink hose. The applicator pump and decorative tassels are also hot pink. A delicate chain holds a hot pink name tag around the neck the bottle. The shape of the bottle is reminiscent of a wok.

In Control comes in a square box that has pattern that looks like a hot pink leopard skin leotard on it. The leotard is being unzipped to show a black background on the top and forms a V, like cleavage, on the front of the box. On the black background, In Control is printed in hot pink with Curious and Britney Spears printed in smaller white letters below it.

While I like the design of the bottle, I was rather disappointed in the endurance of the applicator. I don't know if it was a design flaw, but the applicator did not work for more than a few applications. Once it stopped working the only way to apply the perfume was to remove the top and apply by hand. A regular pump nozzle would have worked better and lasted longer.

I would recommend this perfume for older teens and adults. In Control is more mature than other perfumes in Britney Spears line. It is bolder while still being feminine and is suited for someone who is strong willed and in control.
