Dead space is a surprisingly gory game from the usually calm collection of EA games. Released in 2009, it focuses on an the engrossing tale of the infestation of a deep space mining ship by terrible creatures called necromorphs, the happenings in the lives of the crew members and the events that take place after the ship's decimation. You play as Isaac Clarke, a silent miner who arrives with his team after the problems on the mining shuttle.I won't go any further into the story because it is so excellent, but let me just say, it is one of the most innovative horror games in recent history and the story will keep you thinking for years. The game plays in a 3rd person perspective following Isaac as he investigates the problems of the ship and goes through 12 chapters of inventive puzzle solving, dismembering and killing the forsaken creatures with amazing mining tool- turned weapons, and walks through beautiful dimly lit hallways. The dark and gloomy presentation, the emptiness of space, and the technology in the game really help to accentuate the story. Overall, a great game.
