Incredible Yet Lacking

Pros: The gameplay, graphics, sound effects, and number of modifications available for each character are phenomenal.
Cons: The only thing lacking is the number of combos, along with the complexity of them.
The Bottom Line:
This game is well worth the the money. The graphics and fighting style along with the number of characters to choose from exceeds that of any other fighting type game.
I have for many years now been a fan of Dragon Ball Z. I own ever budokai game that Atari has put on the market, and let tell you that this is by far one of, if not the greatest. This game break the limitations of fighting games, allowing the player to choose from a very wide range of characters and the transformations of those characters. You also have the ability to outfit each character with a minimum of 2 different outfits and/or colors of the same outfit. The game comes with a fairly complex story mode that follows not only the show but most of the movies. This mode of gameplay takes quite some time to beat, and has 3 "What-If" unlockable scenarios which are quite interesting to play out. Things don't end there though there are 3 other gameplay modes. There is your typical tournament style fighting system with your 3, 4, and 5 bracketed battles. You can choose from 3 different tournament modes which consist of The World Tournament, The Cell Games, and The Tournament From the Bojack Movie. All of which become more difficult with the amount of opponents you have in you bracket. Of course the game has your typical Vs. mode where you can battle with your friends, however there is a new and rather interesting feature in the game called Dragon World i believe it was. In this mode of gameplay you play up a pillar much like you old time games did back in Mortal Combat and such. With this all the game is the best Dragon Ball Z game to date, however there is one major flaw. With the amount of characters added they took away many of the move availability that in previous games made each character unique. In this game there are 3energy combos that require the player to press the same buttons for every character. The only thing they did to compensate for this was add much more physical attacks to the game per character. In all though id say that it was worth the investment.
