Ed Moore and Dave Nash are leaning over a map on a table, studying ways to bring the war from the European theater into the Pacific. The map is of Tanambogo Island, which was attacked by the United States as part of the Guadalcanal campaign in World War II. But, unlike the almost unopposed Guadalcanal landing (the real fighting occurred when the Japanese tried to take it back), Tanambogo was fiercely contested. Moore and Nash are designing Pacific Assault and, in the process, taking the Medal of Honor series for PCs into new territory.

Good Shooter but not Call of Duty Quality
| Author's Rating: |
|
Pros: Recreates the events that led to war with Japan well. Good graphics and sound effects.
Cons: Not as good as Some other shooters
The Bottom Line:
If you want another WW2 Shooter, give it a try.
This FPS That takes place in the pacific lets you fight the war against the Japanese after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
The beginning of the game your at a base on pearl when all hell breaks loose. After shooting down some planes you then fast forward to the actual war which you are now engaged in.
The Intense fire fights are done well but the lack of Smart AI makes this game fall short when compared to games like Call of duty where AI And graphics are way better. There are times when enemies are a few feet away from you and will just stand there. Another part you will be stabbed about a dozen times with a enemies bayonet till you die. Yes unrealistic, but making the game strive for realism would take away the fun factor. Although there are no medpacks The game does add a medic which needs to be called in instead of medkits ... which makes it a bit more realistic. Weapons sound awesome and the story line tries to keep you interested in the characters with cutscenes and voice acting all well done.
If you were lucky enough to buy the directors Version you will be treated to not only a game but a animated timeline, Photos, movies, interviews of people in the actual war, the making of the game, and a few other really nice additions such as information on each item in the game and war.
Its like getting a game and a DVD From Time Life about the Pacific war !
If your into The Medal of Honor series, then give this one a try...retailing for around $20.00 you can't go wrong.
