Battle On

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Great graphics, no monthly fee, and you don't always have to play with others

Cons: if your internet connection is slow, gameplay gets quite hard-major lag.

The Bottom Line:
Play this awsome online game

Long ago I tried to play Ultima Online, but our computer had problems so we unsubscribed from it, right before I found out how I could really get it to work for us. I was quite sad that I could no longer play the online game just because it was too much to be subscribed to.

Then not too long ago I saw Guild wars. I just thought it looked interesting, and then I looked and saw that it was an online game. I thought that I would need a monthly subscription like I did with UO. Later I took a closer look at it and found out that you didn't need to subscribe to anything. It was fantastic and a dream come true. It doesn't matter if I spend enough time playing it anymore.

I decided to give it a try and I fell in love right away. The graphics were awesome, and the game play very interesting. I got my sister hooked and we started playing it together.

Sure everyone needs to go through basically all of the same quests and their isn't much variation, but it is so fun, and if you are a ranger you can have pets like tigers and flamingos. You have to save your land from a plague that is affecting everyone, and those that you thought were your allies end up being your enemies.

There is great game play, and even though it is online, you don't have to play with other players if you don't want to, they have henchmen you can have in your group, or heroes that can travel and battle with you.

I love playing guidwars because I have to find my way through maze like cities and avoid dying in order to pass off the quest that I am working on. Guild Wars is simple and easy to learn, and I play it with no problem on my laptop without a mouse to move things around with.

In guildwars there are many towns, which are kind of like safe havens, these are the only places you see the other online players unless one is in your groups, then they will travel with you to your quests.

The game is a series of quests that computer players give you and you can carryout for rewards, such as money or experience points and so forth. Most of the quests have to do with battling monsters, or saving someone, though some are like recon missions, though in the end you still have to battle something, so I would say it is a fighting game all in all.

You get to choose your profession, out of 8 or 9 that are there, and then you get a secondary profession as well, these regulate what spells and traps you can learn. My favorite is the ranger as I mentioned before. And it is your job to save the land from the dangers now facing it.

The controls are pretty simple; all you really have to do to fight is click on the person you want to attack. You can talk to people that you are playing with, or anyone in the cities where you buy supplies, those are the safe haven ones too. It's all very easy to figure out once you start playing, and it’s quite a lot of fun too.

If you have some time to spare, take a spin with guildwars and save everyone from danger and ultimate destruction.
