Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban For The PS2
| Author's Rating: |
|
Pros: Stayed true to the books, better graphics, characters look more realistic
Cons: Can't fly Harry's broom
The Bottom Line:
For fans of the book series
This game is the third installment of the Harry Potter games and is also one where they update the graphics a little more.
This time you are once again playing as Harry Potter but you can also switch over and play as Ron and Hermione. When you board the Hogwart's express you are attacked by dementors (foul creatures that look like grim reapers) who board the train and you have to take over as Ron when Harry passes out.
When you awake as Harry, you find out no one else in the whole train fainted and your new Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher, Professor Lupin hands you some chocolate saying it will make you feel better. Hermione and Ron worry about you until you tell them not to do so and when you get to school you get to once again free roam around the castle and do what you please. You find out from Professor Dumbledore that the dementors are going to be patrolling the grounds of Hogwarts looking for escaped convict, Sirius Black who is known to be the one who helped Lord Voldemort kill Harry's parents.
You can trade famous witches and wizards cards, you can't fly around on Harry's broom this time but you can switch over and play as Ron or Hermione, both of which have special talents. Ron can find secrets in pockets or walls and Hermione can squeeze into tight spaces. When Harry finds out Sirius Black is looking for him, he tells Ron and Hermione who comfort him and his new teacher, Professor Lupin helps him learn to conjour a patronus, a guardian who would protect Harry whenever a dementor comes close to him.
The characters all look a little better this time and even though they still don't look like the actual actors from the movies, they all now look less like cartoons and more like realistic people. The graphics are also better as water looks more real, the spells you use look better and brighten up a room when you use them and the ghosts in the hallways look more realistic. This is a great game for fans of the first two games and also for people who love the books.
