Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets For The PS2
| Author's Rating: |
|
Pros: Kept true to the book
Cons:
Characters still look like cartoons
The Bottom Line:
For fans of the book series
This is the second game in the Harry Potter game series and is also one of my favorites.
The game picks up where the last game, Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone, left off. This time you're once again in control of Harry as he starts the summer off at his best friend Ron Weasley's house. You get to throw gnomes out of the garden with Ron and his older two brothers, Fred and George. Then you get to go shopping in Diagon Alley and you start off by helping Ron's little sister Ginny find her school supplies because she is starting Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry this year.
After getting back to Hogwarts, you learn you have a new Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher named Professor Lockhart who is a nincompoop and doesn't know anything about Defense Against The Dark Arts. After dealing with him in his class you can roam around the school grounds, visit Hagrid at his hut, fly your broom outside and even collect Famous Witches and Wizards cards.
This time around you have to figure out who is writing threatening messages on walls using blood and also have to figure out who is setting the legendary basilisk loose on students in the hallways. You can't play as Ron or Hermione but you can follow them and help them out and there is also plenty more of the characters like Professor Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall, Professor Flitwick, Hagrid and even Ron Weasley's mother.
All in all, this was a great game and the only thing I didn't like about it was the way they kept the same character models from the last game and they still look like cartoons.
