Worse fax or all in one we have had out of 7 units.

Pros: The looks, it's white and sleek.

Cons: Jams and has errors often, takes long for single function.  Prints on only menu items.

The Bottom Line: 
Stay away from this machine.  We should have returned it within the first week while we could.  It's good for wasting time if you want a long coffee break excuse.

Author's Review
We have the HP 309A for 6 months since our old unit broke.  Copy and fax functions: 8 times out of 10 put more than two sheets in the hopper and you will have a jam; however, single sheets on the glass will also be prone to communication errors 9 times out of 10.  Faxing asks you to confirm where the fax is located even though the other location is empty.  The confirmation fax function only gives 3 options which must be set before using- Incoming, outgoing, off.  If you are green you only want confirmations for items that require proof.  When the machine is behaving it still takes 2 minutes because it preps, then scans, calls the receiving number and then takes time to send.  With other machines I would be finished in 15 seconds tops with a stack of 7 sheets done in just over a minute, so to take 2 minutes for one sheet on the 309a is ridiculous.  I timed a single page fax and it took me 30 minutes because it keep giving me communication errors.  When it finally sent the fax the confirmation sheet jammed and destroyed, so I had to do it again.  I could hear the receiving fax answer, so I know it was the HP309A that was having the problems sending.  I finally gave up and found another machine, I really should have done it sooner.
The machine has twice interrupted my use to tell me it's preparing itself.  It takes 2 minutes before it's ready.
Printing: The machine will pull in a sheet of paper then tell you it's the wrong size or wrong type.  It will not print on anything unless you follow what's in the menu.  This is not a machine for the intelligent or creative.
