Gumy Ear Buds. They're OK

Author's Rating: Rating: 3/5 stars

Pros: Good enough sound. Inexpensive

Cons: Wires look a bit thin and flimsy.

The Bottom Line:
This inexpensive stereo ear bud head phone have good enough sound.

Author's Review
This is my third set of ear phones that I have owned with my 60GB iPod. I had the original white wired ear buds it came with. I then moved up to Bose Consumer Headphones TriPort @ $100. I went for them and loved the sound and the feel. Recently they stopped working properly for me. I was very disappointed! I have a short in the wires and only one side works.

A Ninety Dollar Trade Down

In need for something fast. I happened to be in a Wal-Mart and found the Gummy JVC HA-F130B Consumer Headphones. They don't have the excellent superior sound of the Bose but truthfully, these cheapo stereo headphones are just fine for me now.

Even though the the sound was incredible through Bose, I will NOT be spending that kind of big money on personal ear phones headphones ever again.

These headphones are more in my price range now. The set I purchased is black in colour. They are about three foot long. Just enough to give me the room I need between iPod and ears. These do not have any adjustable sleeve bringing the Y part of the wires closer or expanding them. These are very basic. No volume control either. The 3.5mm mini-jack is compatible with iPod and most digital audio players. The wire is lighter and thinner than any of the other ear phones I have owned. They seem to be the Cappellini (angel hair pasta) of stereo ear phones.

Wearing and Listening

The shape of the buds is much as the original ear pods that came with the iPod. They are formed Left and Right. They are comfortable enough, but not as comfortable as the in-the-ear canal, Bose. They are much the same as the originals. I really don't get the Gumy name though. Nothing seems gumy about them. The cool thing is that these come in many cool colors to match just about any mp3 player out there.

The sound, though nothing near as good as Bose, is still OK. Listening to music or watching movies on the iPod I think they are good enough. These do get much louder than my previous ear phones, both the originals with the iPod and the Bose, and though that may not be the best for my ears I can hear things in movies that were previously lost when in a loud atmosphere such as a subway ride.

In a Nutshell

These head phones are OK. Though the sound is far from superior, it's still good enough. I don't get the range of sound when in lower volume that I did with the Bose, but it's not expected either for a $10 bargain price. The stereo sound is just fine. I happen to enjoy movies when I have free time before and after gigs. The sound these give are great for that.

These buds, distributed by JVC and made in China feel fine in my ear even if not as comfortable as Bose $100 product. The length is long enough and the wires seem thin. I have these for a rather short time so I will update as time goes on.
