Pros: Good pictures and video. Also, zoom.
Cons: It has double A batteries . I do not like this.
The Bottom Line:
A good camera for the novice and a good value.
This camera was purchased to replace an older Kodak digital, which I loved. This one had 12 megapixels (as opposed to my older one of 7). The settings were the same on both cameras and the quality of the pictures appeared to be the same. We needed a camera for our cruise coming up soon.
I had dropped my older Kodak a couple of times ( by not putting the strap around my wrist like you should). The screen was black when I went to take pictures. I could review my previous ones. Called Kodak and if I sent it back, there would be a minimal charge of $60 to look at it. Then, if they could fix it, additional charges. My husband said we would just get a new one for that price.
He went to the store and picked it out. Thank goodness it was very similar to our previous one, so I would not have to learn more technology. We are not the 'modern electronic' couple like many are today.
Our older model had a cord that is connected to the computer to charge it. When I asked if he got a cord with this one, is when I found out that it takes 2 AA batteries. Ok, I would deal with that.
In the meantime, he fixed my older one. I do NOT recommend this but we figured it couldn't hurt it if it was already not working. He turned it on and then proceeded to tap it against the side of his hand several times. It worked!!!! At first the picture had a weird color but he did it a couple more times and it cleared up and worked fine. So we took both cameras on the cruise and we each had one.
I noticed the C182 would make a noise when I had it on. I thought at first that the lens mechanism was sticking, that was the sound it made. Then someone told me it was because I was trying to focus (not true), and another also said because I was doing close-ups (again, not true). It is just noisy, like something hung up inside.
My older Kodak got the blank screen again (after I dropped it again). My husband said maybe his 'fixing it' will work again.....it did!! Can you believe that?? That was over a year ago and both are still working.
I finally bought rechargeable AA batteries ( and charger). We are going on a 2 week vacation and I am glad we have both cameras.
Our C182 still makes the noise but it works great. We can use both with the Easy Share program on the computer. Unless you are really into super shots, the Kodak cameras are great and so easy to use. Also, I believe the prices are down now.
