Pros: Still frame capture from video recording. B&W and Sepia. AA batteries.
Cons: Lens cover not attached. No sound with video recording. A/C adapter sold separately.
The Bottom Line:
More options for your money then other leading brands. Anyone can use and take great photos.
The Konica Minolta DiMage Z10 Digital Camera has tons of options for your money.
All buttons on this camera are easy to access and use. Menu and info screens are easy to access as well. There is a lot of flexibility in setting your camera to your specific needs. This camera is ideal for both the beginner and the photographer that wants to specialize photos.
Basic features of this camera are the LCD monitor which is conveniently covered when choosing to use the viewfinder for sighting shots. There is a neck strap and lens cover however this lens cover is not attached and therefore easily misplaced. Camera has a USB port/video out terminal for viewing pics on a computer as well as a television or VCR with an audio jack. The design of the camera is conveniently to one handed photography allowing you to access your zoom, flash button, macro button, and shutter-release button with only the use of one hand.
Taking pictures is as easy as point and shoot with the auto focus mode. There are different auto settings which allow you to customize your shots depending on whether they are action, scenary, sunset/rise, or portrait shots.
For the more advanced photographer there are numerous options to customize your experience. You are able to adjust your shutter speed and aperture with various settings. There are time exposures, self-timer, continuous advance photos, progressive capture and bracketing photos. You have the ability to set your white balance, manual focus, flash compensation, camera sensitivity, contrast and sharpness.
This camera also provides 4 color settings: Normal, Vivid Color, Sepia, and Black & White.
You can also take videos with this camera. Though there is no sound to these recordings, there is the ability to zoom while recording as well as the extra perk of taking still shots from the recording and saving them as pics on your camera. This enables you to get many facial expressions commonly missed in the world of "Say Cheese!".
The review mode of this camera offers different options as well. You can zoom in on pictures as well as rotate them. You can also fast forward, pause and rewind the video recording playback as well.
When saving pics to a computer, pictures are kept separated according to the date the pictures were taken. Camera has a built in memory battery to keep track of the date regardless of taking out your AA batteries.
Battery life is excellent on this camera. There are different energy saving options such as turning off automatic playback as well. AA batteries offers the convenience of being able to purchase extras virtually anywhere should the need arise and many can be recharged via cigarette lighters.
There are still other features that I have not delved into with this camera. Each time I use it I learn a bit more that I can do and am pleased with each discover. This is a great camera regardless of your experience and fun to use as well. I am completely pleased and could only add an option of sound on video recordings to make this the perfect camera.
