The Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z10's built-in 8x optical Mega Zoom lens and 4x digital zoom combine for a total 32x zoom, allowing photographers to capture everything from sporting events to panoramic scenery. The camera's optical lens system consists of 11 elements in nine groups and includes two aspheric lens elements, for sharp, high-quality images. The DiMAGE Z10 combines a 3.2-megapixel primary-color CCD with Konica Minolta's proprietary CxProcess(TM) II image processing technology for pictures that appear exactly the way they are seen.

My First Digital

Pros: Great first digital camera for any one new to the field of digital. Inexpensive.
Cons: Does need card cover, an attached lens hood be nice and sound also.
The Bottom Line:
This is a good camera for the value. Great for the beginner or the pro for quick shots anywhere and in any setting.
My very first camera was a Canon QL 2.5 nearly 40 years ago. Wore it out in Viet Nam and Europe. Looked and researched two other cameras besides the Z10. This by far has the bang for the Buck. Took 400 pictures in one weekend in Canada. Video worked fine on a fast moving train. Color pictures were excellent. Love the Sepia and B&W settings. Still getting used to other features of this camera. Love the delete settings.
Came with a 32MB SD card. Good, but bigger is better. Got a 256 MB card and very well pleased. You can get your own lens cap attachment for less the $5 and loop it through the strap holder ring. I have big hands and it fits well and comfortable. To protect the main lens I aquired a UV filter and ring which covers it well. Would like to find an lens hood for it.
Be care full in wet weather. Protect the card slot from any intrusion of water. Purchased Nim rechargeable batteries and had no problem. Keep the shut off setting on one minute and you will save battery life. I use the view finder most all the time ( from the old school ). Other then this I am very well pleased with this camera.
