A series of grisly murders brings Lara into conflict with a sinister Alchemist from the past, and a secret alliance of powerful individuals shrouded in mystery. At the center of these mysteries are the Obscura Paintings - five 14th century pieces of art that the Alchemist is desperate to repossess. Accused of the murder of her one time mentor, Werner Von Croy, Lara becomes a fugitive on the run. Pursued by the police, she follows the Alchemist into a dark world of blood, betrayal and vengeance where it is up to her to defeat this unholy alliance, and stop them from unleashing their incredible powers on the world.

great graphics, annoyingly slow controls

Pros: Aesthetically a great game
Cons: If you play a game for fun and smoothness, stay away from Lara!
The Bottom Line:
If you are interested in great graphics and a decent plot, go ahead end get it If you like Lara to respond to your "moves", stay away from this one!
I don't like slow controls. Part of fun gameplay -for me- is when a figure responds to my "instructions" from my controller. Unfortunately Lara fails to do this. It has been a while since I played Tomb Raider and I should've known better, since the last time I stopped playing, because it got too repetitive. Same moves different scenery. Even though this version is a lot less repetitive the thing that annoyed me tremendously was the controls. Lara would not jump in time, shoot in time, draw her guns fast enough or simply jump the wrong way.
I wouldn't say that the levels were very hard, but the controls certainly made them hard. If I would've had Jak (Jak and Daxter) instead of Lara, I would've been a much happier player. Too many times did I die because of failure to respond from Lara. I do not mind if Lara dies because of my own incompetence, but I HATE it when I do the right thing on my controller and the character does not respond! Enough said about that.
The game does look great, however. Awesome graphics and good plot. Music, by the London philharmonic orchestra, is great as well. It seemed like a lot of effort went into aesthetics and a lot less into smoothness of play. This game could've been so much better and it definitely deterred me from getting another Tomb Raider in the future.
