Setting out to do for co-op gaming what Counter-Strike did for team combat, Left 4 Dead is an ambitious survival horror game. Running on the Source engine, Left 4 Dead leaves four armed survivors of a world overrun with zombies, and they must fight their way out to escape the outbreak. Designed for co-op play, the four players must work together to finish each stage of the game, lending each other artillery support, sharing ammo and rescuing each other when zombies are on top of them. In addition to the standard four players as humans, another four players can be amongst the masses of assaulting zombies, seeking to take down the other players. Zombie players might even find themselves become one of the four mutant "boss" zombies, who have unique powers that can be used to devastate, injure, tie up, mark and track, confuse, or even humiliate the gun-toting human survivors.

* Good Graphics
* Lots of Gore
Cons: *Sometimes unreliable teammates, usually cpu
The Bottom Line:
You should deffinately buy this game it is awsome and will leave you wanting to come back for more and more.
I can tell you that this is the best game I have played in a while. It is made by VALVE, the maker of Half Life series, Counterstrike, and Team Fortress, if you like these games you will like this it is like a mix of these three together. The co-op is awsome, it has the best co-op I have ever seen, how much you rely on your teammates you cant truly understand until you play, you rely on them to save you whenever you go down by anything. The guns are few and not many but the ones you have are awsome, they are fine tuned and deadly.
The game isn't just killing zombies either there are other more deadly adversaries teaming along with the zombies like hunters, smokers, boomers, tanks, and witches whom will devastate the team. There are also molotoves, pipe bombs, gas cans, propane tanks, oxygen tanks, and other explosives that can blast (or set a blaze) the horde.
Having said just a little bit about this game, you can tell it's awsome. I have already booked about 27000 kills on this game. Which is about 40 or more campaigns of 5 levels each. So I have played this enough to understand everything about it.
Going on, this game has NO STORYLINE, no campaign has any relevance to the other so start on the campaign you want. Each will take an hour to complete and has a great finale. The concept is easy survive and make sure your teammates do to (or at least til one of you get on the escape vehicle). I almost forgot there is a storyline, but you have to look at the writing on the wall to know, like on Portal.
One player can be fun and I do quite well on it. Some people have complained about the CPU not helping them out, it has happened to me but for the most part there usually right there and help you out on the spot. If they dont help you, your more than likely where they cant get to you, which means your dead. But it aint all that bad the computer has helped me more times than I can count.
Co-op is the point of this game, it is a game you play while with 2 or more people if you can. With a human player with you the combat can become very intense, nothing is more frightening as you wait for your teammate to hit the tongue of a smoker off you as you get choked to death. The game can be easy with 2 people playing Normal, so if you want a real challenge put it on Advanced, you wont make it the first time you try, I gurantee it. There is Expert mode but I myself have never tried, because I never have 3-4 friends to beat it.
The specials are next. The specials are what make this game hard and without them this game would be a breeze on any difficulty. The specials are the hunters, smokers, boomers, tanks, and the rare witch. First, the tank, it is a huge muscular zombie and looks most like a zombiefied Hulk. It will take the whole team to take this down and usually will leave at least a few down on the ground waiting to be revived. Second, the witch and dont be fooled by this harmless looking half-naked girl which is usually sitting down crying. One hit from her regardless of your health you will be down with your pistol(s) out. So avoid her if you can and turn your flashlight off when you see her. Third, are the most common specials hunters, smokers, and boomers, I wont go into detail about these but they are what make this game a stick-together game.
Online has a great feature, where 4 players fight the horde which in fact are controlled also by 4 players, they dont play the common infected but do play the specials, all except the witch. That is right they can play the tank and it is fun. Online is fun but understanding the regular campaign is key to surviving on this.
Every playthrough you do is DIFFERENT it is never the same. The guns, ammo, health packs, pain pills, specials (including tanks), explosives, and zombies are all randomly generated. So no one playthrough will ever be like the next, so be prepared.
Basically this game is a game Im gonna keep until there is another or until it breaks and I cant find another. It is a awsome game, it does have its learning groove but it is short-lived, once your through this it is nothing but non-stop action from which the lights you have ever seen.
