Little boys LOVE Lego Star Wars
| Author's Rating: |

Pros: Fun, keeps kids highly entertained, teamwork, building/puzzles, inexpensive.
Cons: None.
The Bottom Line:
This is fun and engaging for kids, but even adults like to try it out.
My son loves this game so much that he takes his Nintendo DS and this Lego Star Wars game (The Complete Saga) to the YMCA with him and plays it with other friends at the YMCA (they bring their DS system as well and play the game together).
If another kid owns this game and a DS system, they can play within 30 feet of each other (together on screen). They can buddy up and become characters that help each other out.
This keeps my son entertained for long periods of time, he loves it. He tried it at another kid's house and decided that is what he wanted at the game store. So when we went to pick out a game, he picked this out. He has more than gotten his money's worth (we bought a used version from Game Stop). My son is 5 and figured out how to manipulate and use this right away. He sits down to show me how to move the characters (from Star Wars but in Lego form, plus you can build your own characters eventually in later levels) and play it. The game states that it has over 160 characters. It seems easy to learn and play for young children (and girls may like it as well). Any kid into Legos and/or Star Wars is going to love this. Sometimes you use the touchscreen for certain things like challenges (you use the buttons mostly). There are words to parts of the game/movie playing (or where it will tell you what to do) and my son can read a little, but he doesn't pay much attention to it and figures it out on his own.
This really isn't very violent because they are Legos, so if they use their light sabers on each other, they fall apart in blocks (there is no blood and real humans or anything), but slightly destructive. The graphics are pretty good as well.
You pick a character and lead them through different levels throughout the game. The game, going into each level goes through a story-telling phase (where it plays out like a movie). It's like watching Star Wars, but a much cuter version because they are Legos. There is some puzzle-solving in this game as well. You can basically play any character seen (with any significance) in the Star Wars movies. There is not only light sabers cutting things down, but you can build things as well (that's where the Lego part comes in). They can build vehicles they can jump into. It has great sound effects (like blocks falling when they get cut down). This game includes all of the Star Wars movies (1-6).
My son loves the whole game, the building, the finding/discovering, the collecting items, the teamwork and especially the Lego Star Wars film clips. Besides maybe Super Mario Bros, no game has kept my son's interest so much. He loves Legos, he loves Star Wars, so this is AWESOME to him. I constantly meet little boys with this game, so my son happily gets to play with these boys in the same room on their separate DS systems. There are a lot of things to figure out on each level, like which characters can open what doors to get to another level.
Walmart.com sells this for only $15.96, an awesome deal! It will make a GREAT gift for any boy between 4-9 (or thereabouts). The release date was 2007.
