Leica heralds a new era in binoculars: The LEICA DUOVID 8 + 12 x 42 is the first highend binocular worldwide that features switchable magnification. Thanks to its unique flexibility, the LEICA DUOVID 8 + 12 x 42 superbly masters the varied and unforeseen challenges that are placed on a binocular during leisure time and travel. With the 8x magnification, it provides an absolutely steady image, a large field of view and a great depth of field for an outstanding overview. Then, by switching to the 12x magnification, you are right there, close to the action. Its exceptional imaging performance enables you to discern even the smallest details - even in critical poor light situations.

Leica Duovid 8-12X42 Binocular

Pros: Adjustable magnification, comfortable viewing ergonomically fit, amazingly clear, sharp and produces brilliant images.
Cons: Needs Objective Lens Covers attached, easier magnification adjustment. Neither of which should deter from purchase.
I compared this binocular to Zeiss, Swarovski (SLC's El's), Nikon, Kahles, and Elites and found these to be superior to all but the 10X50 ELs by Swarovski. The dynamic color and amazingly clear and sharp picture from these binos were amazing. Even the outer edges of the lenses were perfectly focused and clear. They were ergonomically comfortable to use for long periods of time as well as completely comfortable on the eyes at either of the magnifications 8 or 12. The binocular is actually capable of being set to any power between that variance and all powers are clear, fully focused and they are one fantastic binocular.
I use this binocular for hunting as well as just viewing and found it to be very suitable for both. The only thing that could be possibly improved on this item to me, is to put objective lens covers on them similar to the Swarovskis, and improve the ability to rotate the magnification levels on them.
