Pros: 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz bands, N speed, easy setup.
Cons: Odd shape. Other than that this router works as it should.
The Bottom Line:
Buy it only if you have computers on your network that can receive the 5.8Ghz signal and/or you have Windows Vista Media Center.
Author's ReviewThis router comes with the easiest setup I have ever seen. The software is comperhensive and loaded into Windows Vista without problem. I connected the 5.8Ghz to the media server, the 2.5Ghz serves 2 other computers and two wireless phones (T-Mobile UMA phones). The intranet speed is incredible at the 5.8Ghz and solved the problems that my old router (2.4Ghz only) had pushing media from a desktop. I can watch live TV through the media extender, pause and play, instantly. I have read other reviews about this router and the problems with reception, or strength of the the signal. I compared the 2.4Ghz to my old router (Linksys WRT54G). The reception is bettter, although only slightly, with the new router. The real difference is the speed, the N will give you faster loads of web pages. The 5.8hz, running off a seperate antenna in the router, does what it's supposed to do, you cannot however treat it the same as the 2.4Ghz. The higher frequency can push more data but does not travel as far. Also, to take advantage of the 5.8Ghz signal you need to have something that will work with it. I was supprised to find that my Sony laptop can run at either frequency, so it's now my media server. Before you buy this router consider whether you have N-wireless hubs and/or other devices that can receive the 5.8Ghz signal. If you do than this router will contribute to the quality of your network.
