I thought Cisco would be good...bad wrt610N

Pros: Good tech support via online-chat

Cons:  Drops wifi connections repeatedly. USB connected drives get trashed by this unit.

I bought the Cisco instead of another brand because I owned a pre-cisco linksys that worked well and I liked the idea of the new WRT610N having a USB for a central disk on the network.

The WRT610N is bad.

With internal only antennas I do not get quite the range my old WRT54G did.  The connection, even feet away drops out randomly. The WRT610N USB crashed my network disk drive. I reformatted the drive to try again and then the WRT610N destroyed it again.  I gave up.   I am very disappointed. While using the disk (for the short time it was working) it was VERY slow and my family complained about being dropped from the network. Terrible.

Regarding the 5GHz wireless support? I don't know because my new Toshiba notebook claims to have N support, but it does not see the Cisco WRT610N's 5Ghz wireless SSID at all.  I won't blame Cisco for that (yet) and will assume it is something I am doing wrong.

Overall I'm Disappointed!
