Logitech Quickcam, worth your buy?

Author's Rating: Rating: 3/5 stars

Pros: Decent Graphic Quality, Built-in MIC, Clips to desktop screen easily, Fast WebCam

Cons: Manual Visual Adjust, Slow program

The Bottom Line:
Good for short conversations or presentations. A decent buy for the price. Do not buy if you plan to use extensively.

Author's Review
I needed a webcam to hold some broadcast shows on BlogTV with my cousin (she couldn't get skype to work for her). I managed to pick this webcam up for just under twenty dollars. The webcam is obvious in the fact that you install the software before you plug in this camera. Downloading the software was easy, yet still curiosity got a hold on me. I tried to install this webcam on five different computers.
The first was a laptop loaded with Windows XP (SP3). I installed this program exactly as directed, plugging the camera in when told to do so and installing just fine, though the graphics were a bit slow. And the sound was quite. I do believe this was the fault of the computer (and myself), not the product itself.
The Second computer I downloaded this product on was a laptop loaded with Windows 2000. Now the program is designed for Windows XP and/or Vista. I had a small bit of trouble installing the program, though I followed every direction and it to installed successfully. This computer did not load the video very well and the audio was not even remotely clear.
The third system was a Vista Home Basic Desktop. The software installed much quicker then i would have expected from a Vista machine and the graphic quality was amazing, though I felt the sound was, yet again lacking.
The fourth computer had Windows XP (SP3) and was a desktop. I wasn't quite sure if there would be a difference between the laptop and a desktop. The program itself installed very quickly and the sound was amazing; the video quality also shocked me.
The fifth computer was a desktop running Windows XP (SP2). I wanted to test and find out what would happen if I did not unplug and plug the camera in. the result was disastrous. The program installed well, but when it came to the point it tells you to plug the camera in my computer began to make beeping sounds and the "New Hardware Wizard" was constantly popping up. I did get through all of that and the installation to be provided with great graphics. I did not test the Audio on this computer at all.

What I like:
I enjoy the built-in microphone and the clip adds to even more convenience. Program does not require much memory and allows you to make videos or take still shots to email.

What the software includes:

The software installs the basic plug ins you need for the camera to work. It also allows you to make videos (as such needed for youtube or a presentation) and you can take still pictures of yourself.

Bottom line:

If you want an exceptional webcam or can afford a better one, buy it.
