The original Madden 2000 for the playstation console was indeed a great game, but lacked in a few areas, but guess what! Madden 2001 for the playstation 2 console fills in all the holes to make most possibly the best football videogame ever. Of course, the game is for playstation 2 so it is going to have better graphics than 2000, played on playstation. One of the main problems with Madden for playstation was the graphics, other than that I found it to be a nearly flawless game. But now that the graphic problems have been fixed, I have nothing but positives to say about Madden 2001. This game is so captivating and I guarantee if you are a fan of NFL2K and NFL2K1 for sega dreamcast, you will absolutely love this game. Could Madden 2001 have been better? Possibly, but what game can't? Nevertheless, this game will surely not disappoint.

Compared to the graphics of the original Madden on playstation, I would go as far as saying 100% better. The detail put into every part of this game is simply amazing. Not one minor detail, graphic wise, has been overlooked in the making of this game. All of the players facial expressions, skin colors, muscles, and weight are in exact proportion to that of them in real life. Each stadium has been amazingly detailed also. Ranging from the lights, to the field conditions, the weather, and even the coaches and water stands on the sidelines.

Speaking of the sidelines, you will see much activity occuring on the sidelines during the game if the camera just so happens to focus on them. You will see your teammates cheering for you on the bench, along with your coach, the referees, reporters interviewing and even people taking pictures. Nothing has been left out! You can even see reflections in the players helmets on a bright and sunny day. Does this game sound great yet or what? I'm just getting started.

The gameplay in Madden 2001 is just as excellent as the graphics. Many new controls for the defense and offense have been added since Madden 2000, to help make the game more fun for the players. Some of the new defensive controls allow for better ability to read and react on certain plays. Allowing your team to react more quickly and enabling you to get more sacks and tackles. Madden 2001 plays exactly like a real life football game, and the replays look like your watching a Monday night game on television. Very captivating replays! Some of the modes consist of head to head and my personal favorite, franchise mode. I like this mode because you can take a team throughout many seasons trying to continually win while players start to retire. It makes it seem more realistic to me and I guess thats why I enjoy it the most. I also like taking on my friends in head to head mode though, and showing them my power fun game with the Titans.

The game consists of all the NFL teams, as well as a few classic teams from past years, not to mention the famous All-Madden teams, plus the World League teams. Something that EA has done that I like is the fact that they have added Madden cards in the game. You can earn more Madden cards by winning plays and doing certain things that are required. The more cards you get the better off you will be. They enable you to unlock secrets in the game, like teams, stadiums and various other cheats.

No one can't argue that Madden 2001 for playstation 2 has the best gameplay and overall features for the perfect combination. If you have enjoyed or liked any football game, how could you not want to run out and buy this game.
