Madden NFL 2001, He Could Go All The Way!

Pros: Smooth gameplay, very realistic, customizable for all skill levels.
Cons: Not so great tackling and defensive speed.
The Bottom Line:
Very exciting game to play for hours of entertaining fun.
This Madden 2001 football game by EA Sports, for your playstation 2 console, is unbelievably awesome. I love this game. I bought this game having set high hopes for it and was disappointed in the least. For all of you that are lucky enough to have Playstation 2, this should definitely be a game that you should own.
Realism of the game!
Not a single detail when it comes to players has been spared from this game. There jerseys are identical, there numbers are correct, helmets, and even the playerÂ’s body sizes are down exactly. The noises coming from the crowd are extremely realistic also. They will cheer when the home team makes a big play. You will also hear the announcers calling out cars in the stadium parking lot with their lights on. The game simulation is realistic along with the lighting for night games.
Graphics, WOW, The Graphics
Many of you by now know that the Playstation 2 games all usually have great graphics, but the graphics in this game will make you take a second look. At first glance if you are just walking by, you might even mistake this game for a real game on the television. The replays are eye boggling. On some games the player will catch the ball even if he is 6 yards away from it. It just matters if he is close to the play or not. But no, in Madden 2001 on instant replay, you can actually see the player grabbing and receiving the ball into his hands. This is very fun to watch.
Game Play Modes
There a many great game play modes in this game but one of them is my personal favorite and I will tell you why in a second. First off there is the Exhibition game play. This is when you and a friend can get together and pick two teams to go head to head against. Then there is season, where you play a full season and try to make it into the playoffs and win the super bowl!
There are a few others also but my personal favorite is the franchise mode. In franchise mode, you take a team and play through multiple seasons with them . During the reams multiple seasons, players will be inclined to retire. So you will have to get new players to keep your team as a contender. I like this mode the best because it last the longest and it is so much like real life.
Announcers
And then there are the announcers. Whom consist of John Madden and Pat Summerall, with Lesley Visser adding side notes from the locker room and such. Even though their lines get repetitive during the game, the announcing is very realistic. I find it to be somewhat annoying at some points though. But then I just go to options and turn off the announcers.
One Tiny Frustrating Mishap.
And this comes on defense. As for tackling it could be a little better in my opinion. Players jump up instead of driving through the player. I guess I just like to see more smashing hits. Also, it can be extremely frustrating to try and catch a break away runner. I have seen a slow tight end outrun my entire Redskins backfield, which should never happen with Deion Sanders back there.
Overall this game is great and gets 5 stars from me
