Madden 2001 was/ is, perhaps the most hyped game for the Playstation 2 console. I bought the game with no hesitation because I have read and heard so many good things about Madden 2001. I was not disappointed to say the least. In fact Madden 2001 is my favorite Playstation 2 game to this day. In all aspects of the game it is well……perfect! This is the first review that I have written in which every category gets a perfect 10! You will see why I gave every category a 10 right now.

Graphics- 10
Whoa! I was stunned! When I first played Madden I was very impressed with each little detail put into the graphics of the game. Madden 2001 has every detail precisely figured and there isn’t one single blotch in the whole game! If you are just passing by the T.V. and someone is playing the game, you might mistake it for an actual football game! Also, when you are looking around the stadium you can see each individual person, not just a big blotch like in other games. This game has everything from referees running around to the Gatorade cups on the table behind the coach! You have to see it to believe it!

Sound- 10
Rapping Menus? That’s right! From the very first second you turn on the game until you start playing the game, there are rappers rapping about John Madden and EA sports etc. It is really quite entertaining! The sound when you are actually playing the game is incredible! From the crowd cheering to the huge BOOM when you make a big hit, the sound in this game captures it all! The only thing that is slightly on the downside is the commentary. Madden and Summeral repeat everything at least 3 or 4 times a game! It gets really annoying after a while. If EA could have thought up some more sayings for these guys it might be a little more entertaining, but it doesn’t matter too much because you can turn the commentators off if you get really sick of them. Who knows, maybe you are one of the few people in the world who likes the same stuff repeated over and over again, if that is you then you will have no problem with the commentary from this game.

Gameplay- 10
This is by far the best feature about Madden 2001! This game has the best replay value that I have seen out of any game that I have ever played! Trust me that is saying a lot, because I have played a lot of video games! Not only can you have tons of multi-player fun but you can have tons of fun playing one player because of a new feature called Madden Cards. These cards can only be earned on 1 player mode and they enable a wide variety of cheats to use, they also unlock secret teams and secret abilities for each individual player. You earn theses cards for accomplishing certain tasks throughout the game, when you have a certain amount of tokens you can buy a pack of Madden Cards. There are almost 300 unique cards to get and you only get 12 or 15 cards per pack, so this is sure to keep you busy! You can also create players, which, in this game, is really a lot of fun because you can customize your player as much as you like! Anything from the black paint beneath his eyes to his jersey number, you can do it all on Madden 2001! This game has a LOT of features to it. In fact probably some that I haven’t even figured out yet!

Presentation- 10
Like I said before Madden 2001 has great menus with rappers! The menus are great and never get boring. On the start screen they have a different player each time doing moves and running with the ball. It is all of these little things that make Madden 2001 such a great game! It can be fun for the whole family too! If you go and get a multitap you can have up to 8 players playing at one time! Wow, this is truly a great game, and if you haven’t already go buy it right now! What are you waiting for? This is the perfect game for any age, IT RULES!
