The best operating system for pc

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Faster than Vista and Windows 7.  Cheaper more stable.

Cons: About to become obsolete.  Nagging operating system.

The Bottom Line:
This operating system is rock solid and fast if you play games get it and win like I do.  Its cheaper than the latest operating systems.

Author's Review
Why am I writting a review of an operating system thats obsolete and hard to find and looked down on so much by its author.  Well quite simply because its the best darn operating system out there period.  Windows XP is faster than Vista by about 30% and faster than windows 7 by about 25% these are microsoft numbers.  I have confirmed these numbers with my own tests.  I use my computers for the internet, downloading content movies, TV shows etc, and mostly for games.  With gamers speed is EVERYTHING.  Lets face it the reason we upgrade our systems is because they have become slower than the software we need to run on it.  Nothing taxes a computer more than the most state of the art games and of those first person shooters are the most demanding.  What I find ironic is that Vista was designed so different it wasnt windows compatible anymore what they did with windows 7 was add a retro xp mode to run games or software that doesnt run on the Vista platform which windows 7 is.  To me its rediculous to try to imulate XP when you can just own it and dont convert.  Windows XP has some quirks for sure mostly when dealing with security.  I also dont like that it trys to read your mind and give you information in the form of popups and balloons at the bottom of the screen.  Nothing is more anoying than a nagging operating system.  Microsoft hasnt figured this out yet as they still like to tell you everything that is going on when of course 90% is redundant and not important.  If it was up to me I would strip the windows operating system down to its absolute basics and leave all the extra configuration stuff on the hard drive and load it as you need it.  Why run drivers for software you MIGHT run and take up resources.  Now Windows 7 is suppost to help with this but it doesnt work too well.  I have seen 3rd party programs that will only boot the bare basics into memory thus your games run about 10% faster.  Which of course is worth the trouble (if you like to win).  With Windows XP being cheaper than Vista (a disaster) and Windows 7 better than vista program.  I would buy up XP.  Microsoft says its going to stop supporting XP with updates in the near future I say run all out and use it till it finally dies.  The speed is worth the increase because even 25% slowdown is massive thats like spending $1000 on hardware performace to make that up.  With XP costing about $100 oem version thats a good deal.
