Gaming consoles have come a long way since the first video game was invented. Gaming companies are constantly trying to improve their gaming consoles more and more every day. This year the competition is between the Xbox 360 which is made by Microsoft, and the Play Station 3(PS3) made by Sony.  Even with PS3 having the best technology, such as the built in blue ray DVD player, Xbox 360 is still the best gaming console because of its Xbox Live experience. The achievements and game score, the constant updates, and the game play are what make Xbox 360 better than PS3.
The achievements and game score are what make the Xbox 360 a competitive gaming console. With the Xbox 360, video games have become a lot more exciting. For example, after completing a game on the PS3 there is nothing more to do, while on the Xbox 360 the player unlocks an achievement and points are accumulated to his or her game score. The achievements are challenges found throughout the game, such as completing the game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on veteran difficulty. As the player earns these achievements points are added on to the player’s game score. The player’s achievements can then be viewed by other players online who see how good the player is. This is what makes the Xbox 360 a better and more competitive console.
Another function that makes the Xbox 360 a better gaming console is the constant updates. Microsoft is constantly working on updates. For example, when playing Rock Band the gamer is constantly playing songs, but when all the songs are played the gamer can then buy new songs online and they are immediately updated on to the Xbox 360. The updates can also be used to customize the avatars, download movies on Netflix, and download new maps for levels on any games. This gives gamers updates on the latest Xbox news or demos for new releases that will be coming out. These constant updates are what give gamers the Xbox Live experience.
The most important reason why Xbox 360 is a better gaming console is because of its amazing gaming techniques. The online gaming is very intense. For example, playing Call of Duty or Halo with 15 other players who are just as good at playing  or better can be quite fun. Online multiplayer can also be very fun whether it’s playing against unseen competition online or just simply with your friends. The game play on the Xbox 360 is much faster and easier than PS3 simply because of the controls which are easier to play with. Although the PS3 has better graphics, the game play is faster and the games themselves are more entertaining for the Xbox 360.
In conclusion, the achievements and game score, the constant updates, and the game play are what matter in a good gaming console. It’s not just about which one is better looking or is the newest console; it has to do with how much entertainment the player is going to get out of it. Although the PS3 is more advanced in technology, it’s clear that the Xbox 360 is the game console that satisfies the needs of a real gamer.
