I've always relied a lot on Consumer Reports when buying a product. This time I turned to the internet when searching for a new vacuum I started reading the positive comments regarding a Miele. I had never heard of this brand until I started doing some research on the internet. This is the best vacuum that I have ever owned. It's quiet, light weight and powerful. It has 6 settings and most of the time when doing my floors I use the most powerful setting but glad I have options to reduce the power. I had considered 2 other top name brands but I'm glad I chose the Miele and have recommended this vacuum to others. I did purchase an additional brush for my hardwood floors. I have a new home & everything is hardwood or tile. It came with a floor brush and other small attachments that can hook onto the hose, wish the attachments were in the canister but here again they've kept it small for weight. It rolls easily from room to room and it's so quiet it doesn't scare my cats they just watch me vacuum. I do wish the cord was a little bit longer, (approx. 20 feet) but due to it's small size I'm sure they couldn't make it any longer without having to make the canister larger & then additional weight. Evidently light weight and quiet vacuums are a standard in Europe after reading the reviews, evidently most Europeans are surprised at how heavy and noisy U.S. vacuums tend to be. I'm glad I chose this vacuum and it's ideal for my new house.
