Just what I look for in a shower gel
| Author's Rating: |
|
Pros: Very nice shower experience, skin softening, great smell
Cons: Ingredient list looks chemical to me.
The Bottom Line:
Adds an added dimension to the shower experience.
Last December, I bought The Molton Brown Elemental Set, a 10 pack of 1.7 fl. oz. Molton Brown Bath and Shower gels. I like to try products before I commit to purchasing the full size bottles just in case I don't like the product or have allergic reactions to it. The Molton Brown Inspiring Wild Inigo Bath and Shower gel was one of those tiny bottles.
What do I look for in a shower gel.
1) The first thing is that I not be allergic to it. This is suitable for sensitive skin.
2) The second is that I have a feeling of freshness and a clean feeling after I've used it.
3) The third is that it smell good and, as an added bonus, I like to feel other sensations like invigoration or sensuality or just different in some way.
4) I have found that I prefer lighter products that pour nice and smoothly rather than thick, glue like products.
5) I like gels that foam nicely. Molton Brown's Inspiring Wild Indigo Bath and Shower gel has a light foam which I like very much.
5) In the end it's helpful if the product is a good value for it's price.
The Molton Brown Inspiring Wild Indigo Bath and Shower gel does all of the above. It is a very nice sea blue color, it smells wonderful, it leaves me feeling clean and refreshed. When you've taken showers as long as I have, they get boring. The Molton Brown products have given me variety and new sensations when taking showers. Sometimes they have a warm fragrance and are good for showers taken right before sleep or in the dead of winter. Sometimes, as with the Wild Indigo, I have a bright, fresh, "let's shower in the morning" type of experience.
I will be buying this in the full size soon. As with all of the Molton Brown products I've tried, the fragrance is more masculine than feminine, in my opinion. Or maybe the fragrance is herbal. It's spicy but has a very slight flowery after scent. My skin is soft and clean when I use the Inspiring Wild Indigo Bath and Shower gel.
This link will help you understand the benefits of Wild Indigo http://www.skinstore.com/store/product.asp?catID=5873&prodID=5944. I bought my set from skinstore.com and do suggest reading the ingredient list and description there.
New information:
An epinions commenter tried to find the ingredient list and couldn't. I also tried and discovered that less than 24 hours after I found a complete list at the link above, I couldn't find a list at all except for this one on abeautifullife.com which shows the natural ingredients but not the chemical ingredients:
"wild-indigo - neuro-active tephroline is extracted from the seed of this flowering shrub which grows wild in the Indian Himalayas. It is used by many cultures as a traditional medicine to relieve a myriad of ailments including skin sensitivity.
mango - a moisturising skin conditioner with anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.
pink pepper oil - indigenous of Brazil and Peru, this provides a mild and sweet aroma.
clary sage oil - taken from the flowering tops and leaves, this has a sweet nutty fragrance.
bergamot oil - extracted from the rind of the fruit, it is citrus, yet fruity and sweet with a warm spicy quality.
rosemary oil - distilled from the flowering tips, it has a clear, refreshing herbal aroma."
Here are the ingredients from the back of the bottle:
"purified water (aqua),sodium laureth sulfate, cocamide DEA propylene glycol, fragrance (parfum),glycerin, tephrosia purpurea seed extract, PEG-70 mango glycerides,alpha-isomethyl ionone, butylphenyl methylproional, citral, citronellol, hexyl cinnamal, hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde, limonene, linalool, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, butyl methoxydibenzollylmethane, PPG-26-buteth-26,ethylhexyl salicylate, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, benzophenonr-4, phenoxyethaol, methylparaben, propylparaben, citric acid, blue 1 (CI 42090), red 33 (CI 17200)"
Because it is a very small bottle, I apologize in advance if I misspelled any of the words above. The bottle is almost empty and the words were hard for me to see.
