Surprisingly Interesting....

Author's Rating: Rating: 4/5 stars

Pros: Support for G25 racing wheel
You can get it now for less than $20
Good Arcade racing

Cons: Wasn't worth $50
Can get repetitive
Just racing events

The Bottom Line:
I paid $9.99 for this game locally on special, and for that is worth having a fun, cheap racing game which can be surprisingly fun in your game collection.

Author's Review
Ok, this game does get some bad reviews and if I had paid full price for it I may have somewhat agreed.

The career mode is lame in story line (i.e. it basically doesn't have one). The cars sound a lot alike and maybe some of the background graphics are a little clunky. The music is definitely repetitive.

However, if you are not into that, and  you are just looking for a pure arcade racing game, this is excellent. If you combine this game with a Racing Wheel - and in particular a Logitech G25 wheel, then it is a lot of fun. The game even support the clutch properly on the G25. It becomes more like the arcade racers you see in any arcade/Gameworks/Dave & Busters except you don't have to pay for every race...

The wheel really reacts well in the game and you lose the on/off throttle and steering control when you use the normal controller which is a bit of issue when it comes to the harder settings such as the 'King' level of difficulty.

I really like the way you can just select a race and then race - and for my non-serious racing friends and my young kids this is great! Just start the game up and drive! As an arcade type driving experience it isn't bad. I like the in car/bumper view for the best driving experience.

The Wheelie comps are too easy and the game could do without them, but every other part of the game is worth trying out. The physics are not even cloe to real, but in this type of game, so what - NFS has never pretended to be a driving simulator.

I actually like it more than the newer titles such as NFS: Undercover (which is just horrid).

I paid $9.99 for this game locally on special, and for sub-$20 I highly recommend it. Worth having a fun, cheap racing game which can be surprisingly fun in your game collection.
