I recently obtained a Netgear Switch FS608 10/100M to replace a Hub that had unexpectedly gone down leaving several systems with no Internet access.

As we run all Linux systems here I did not want to end up with a Switch that was somehow dependent on the Operating System. As Netgear says, the Netgear Switch FS608 10/100M works with Windows, Macintosh and Linux thereby supporting virtually every operating system.

Searching reviews of various switches I found the Netgear Switch FS608 10/100M highly rated by many users on a number of sites. What made me decide to obtain this particular switch was its performance and ease of installation. And, the great user ratings.

This Switch requires no CD loading and is clearly OS independent. It has performed admirably well since we just installed it on our Broadband cable modem.

This is a great product and reasonably priced. As we needed it quickly, I ordered it from Newegg.com and it was quickly here. This products gets my highest possible rating. As a computer professional for several decades I certainly appreciated its auto-sensing capability for the computers connected. Installation could not have been more simple and took less than about one minute!

This 8-port Fast Ethernet Switch auto-switching Ethernet connection makes it easy to link up to 8 PC or Ethernet devices to a network with speeds of 10 or 100 Mbps over Ethernet cables. All ports automatically sense the correct speed and full/half duplex mode. Status lights for all ports display each port's activity. It also has a stand for vertical positioning. It is a very clean, compact and a neat looking unit.
