Coolpix

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Big touch screen. Many different setting.

Cons: Could of been a better zoom feature.

The Bottom Line:
This is a great camera with lots of different features.

The Nikon Coolpix S230 has been the best camera I have ever owned. I purchased the camera at Target for a $150. It included a memory card, the camera, and a camera case. I thought for those three items itself it was a deal, but need I find out that the camera was much better! There are so many features that it is almost overwhelming. I got this camera over the summer and I still don’t know how all the different features work.
The feature I like the most is the touch screen. It included  a stylus to use. This stylus can also be used to write little messages on your pictures. Not only do I like to write words and sayings on the pictures but I also like to draw little pictures and figures around the people in the picture.
There are 19 different settings that you can set depending on where and at what time of day you are taking the picture. This is where I become overwhelmed with the camera because I never know what setting to put it in to get the best quality picture.
This camera also contains a feature where it can pinpoint the faces in the picture. When it recognizes a face it will place a box around the face. If you take the picture and the camera picks up that someone blinks it will ask “Did someone blink?” and give you the option if you want to delete it or continue.
The battery of this camera seems to last about 10 hours and only takes less than 2 hours to charge it. The charger plugs into the wall, then you take the battery of the camera out and connect it into the charger. This has been a very convenient thing about this camera because the charger doesn’t take up much space and is easier to pack when traveling.
The zoom feature would be where I am disappointed the most. It zooms in pretty far but not as far as I would like. Not good for getting little details. The camera does contain a bigger screen then most cameras so it is easier to see where you are trying to get.
The qualities of these pictures are very good when printed. This camera has 10 megapixels which I notice when I print 8x10 pictures. The bigger the picture the greater quality. They don’t look very good on the screen of the camera but once printed they look professional.
Overall I am very happy with this camera and have had fun learning more on how to use it. There is still so much more to learn so if any of you have any comments let me know.
