Pros: Can use old Nikon lens!
Great range of features
Solid body
Large screen
Cons: Old film lenses "increase in focal lenghtm.
The Bottom Line:
After looking at all the options, this camera came through for the following reasons; quality, lowest cost body that can use the old lenses.
Author's ReviewI have been using Nikon SLR cameras since 1969. As far as Nikon goes, I have owned a Nikon F, still own a FE and N65 body.
This body accepts all the old lenses. The quality of the results surprised me good they are, in all conditions.
One of the primary reasons for chosing this SLR body is that it accepts all my older film lenses
(I have 24mm AI, 50mm f1.4 AI, 105mm f2.5 AI, 35mm PC [architectural lens], 28-200mm, 70-300mm zoom which were/are used on the older bodies Nikon SLR bodies). The quality of the photos surprised me.
Since the sensor is smaller than the 35mm, what I used as 24mm is 50%, approximately a 36mm, and on the otherhand, the 300mm lens equates to 450mm.
It offers many viewing options, the review screen is very large. It also allows the user to "drill-down" magnifying the picture for critical reviews without using a computer.
Another feather which is great for still life and close up shots, is the"Live" shooting mode. This feature allows me to rather use the large 3" screen at the back to compose and monitor the photo.
The body is fairly complete and hardly requires any additional accessories.
Some useful ones are having a spare battery, remote cordless release button, and wrist support attachment.
There are may other features I found as worth while, and would take more space + time to write, so will leave it there.
