Great game, worth it for hardcore and casual players alike

Pros: - All legendaries from this gen. available
- More replayability
Cons: - The game is too short
- Elite four go up in level after first battle
The Bottom Line:
Pokemon Platinum is a great game and the best of its generation of titles. Not recommended for players that own Diamond/Pearl. The new features aren't worth the price.
Every time a new dual series pokemon game comes out (ex: Pokemon Diamond and Pearl) it is followed by a better version that fuses the two and allows you to catch both of the legendaries from each game, adds a new legendary pokemon, and gives more features than either of the two preceding games. Anyone who has played pokemon games before will feel right at home with the introductory and basic formula, while still experiencing new pokemon and new areas to explore. Anyone new to the Pokemon franchise will find the introductory tools refreshing from other role playing games on the Nintendo DS.
Pokemon Platinum is a great game for hardcore and casual players as they can catch many pokemon the previous versions did not have. Casual players will find the game to be of decent length, but the game can be beaten in about two weeks of normal play. Hardcore players will find it very short lived, but the Battle Frontier ( an area that has ladder-type tournaments against computer trainers) makes up for this.
Comparing Pokemon Platinum to other simliar Pokemon games (ex: Pokemon Crystal and Pokemon Emerald), this version lands about the middle. Pokemon Crystal offers massive amounts of gameplay after beating the game (defeating the Elite Four), where as Pokemon Emerald falls short in this area. Pokemon Platinum can be found inbetween, catering to both casual players and hardcore players alike for replayability.
The graphics in Pokemon Platinum are the game graphics from Diamond and Pearl, but are still top notch for the Nintendo DS system.
