Pros: zoom feature and focus at all distances
Cons: wish I had purchased the dating model
You will not hear any technical mumbo-jumbo in this review because basically all I know about cameras is how to turn them on and press the button. That is why the Pentax 160 is perfect for me. Even if I were bright enough to figure out the focusing and lighting and whatnot of a more complicated camera, neither my grandaughter nor the animals we saw on an African photo safari are going to wait long enough for me to do so. The zoom on this camera is absolutely great allowing me to catch both "wild" children and wild animals in action without having to stick a camera in their faces (definitely NOT recommended with lions!!).
The Pentax 160 has many more features that I have never tried and still have to pull out the (easy-to-read) manual to recall how to do certain things like landscapes through a window. The only basic feature which I do NOT use is the panoramic lens. I even bought the camera expressly for this feature. However rolls with panoramic shots need special processing (one-hour development doesn't do it) and therefore rolls with such pictures must be specially marked. Yes, Pentax did provide stickers for such rolls but I don't seem to be able to remember to use them. So for those like myself, I still recommend using a disposable panoramic camera for those pictures.
We have never failed to be delighted with the clarity of our pictures at any focal range and certainly consider this the best of the point and shoot cameras in our experience.
