Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire take place in an all-new region known as Hoenn. When the game starts, you get to decide to control either a boy or girl Pokémon Trainer. Whichever you choose, the storyline will be the same -- your goal is to set out in the world and become the world's greatest Pokémon Trainer. During your quest you'll encounter many trials, including fierce battles with wild Pokémon and other Trainers. As you prove yourself in battle against Gym Leaders in the many cities scattered over Hoenn, you'll earn Gym Badges to prove your skill. Your ultimate goal is to defeat the Elite Four in the hallowed halls of the Pokémon League. Minimize

Author's Review
We have all the previous Pokemon games from yellow, red, and blue to Silver, Gold and Crystal. This one beats them all. The graphics are great. Old battle moves have updated and very effective visuals. The challenge of battling two Pokemon at a time is a new thrill that sells the game just by itself. There are many new Pokemon that according to the 7 year old "are really cool". They look fierce and ready for battle.

The item bag holds more things. Another new element are many berries that are used for a Pokeblock to attract and aid Pokemon.

Enemies are still present with different names. Rivals too are willing to battle.

A great feature that we love is that by using the 'b' button your player can run. In previous Pokemon games the player would only walk unless he/she rode a bike which was at times hard to maneuver due to its speed. With the running option, going to the Pokebag to locate the bike is eliminated and the speed is very manageable. The bike is still an option in the game. If fact, there are times it is necessary to be on the bike. Another great feature is that there are two choices of bikes and one can change to the other bike any time.

I would say that if you love Pokemon, this is definitely worth it. We found prices as low as $24 and as high as $35, so shop around.
