Pros: Lightweight, ultra compact stroller, comes with all accessories
Cons: no suspension, no recline
The Bottom Line:
The best ultra compact stroller on the market. Extremely versatile and includes all needed accessories!
The Quinny Zapp is one of the smallest folding strollers available in the world. We purchased the Zapp as our go to stroller for everyday situations where our child is going to be walking (or running crazily) around and would only need the stroller if they get tired.
The original Zapp had only a closely paired front wheel but parents in Europe and Asia, to whom this version was only available, found that the stroller tipped easily especially with a crazy, worming child. The current version that we now get was redesigned to have two front wheels, one in each corner. This greatly improved its stability without adding much more weight or reduce its folding size.
The beauty of the Zapp is in it's folding. It can fold down to a tiny 2 ft x 1.5 ft size and easily fits into any trunk, overhead airline compartment or even the front wheel well of the passenger seat.
The folding mechanism is at first a bit awkward but easy to do after a few tries. There is no built in suspension on the Zapp and both front and rear wheels are the same size and solid rubber. The braking system is very intuitive. There is a button over the right rear wheel which engages the brakes and the button over the left rear wheel disengages. The Zapp also does not recline and the weight of the Zapp is only 13 pounds.
The Zapp has a weight capacity of 40 pounds and the seat has a 5 point harness. It has great head and leg room and can actually fit a fairly tall child despite its ability to fold compactly. There is a small under stroller mesh bag for storage as well.
The accessories that come with the Zapp include a sun canopy, rain canopy, and carrying case. The sun canopy has an overhead window and two side windows so the view from the stroller is actually fairly good. The Zapp also includes adapters to fit the infant Maxi-Cosi car seats. Our Cabrio-Fix fits securely onto the Zapp with the included adapters and it definitely fits the Mico which is available in the US.
The maneuverability and tracking the Zapp is superb. The front wheels can rotate 360 degrees and can lock if needed. The stroller can easily be pushed with one hand (or finger) even with a toddler in the stroller. There are also many colors to choose from and more available every year.
We have traveled with the Zapp and it has quickly become our favorite go to stroller. It has even replaced our Bugaboo Cameleon for most situations! Since our son is a toddler now and taking naps in a full recline position is not necessary, the Zapp is a much lighter and adaptive stroller for our needs. This is especially true if it is just to be used a backup while walking around incase he gets tired of walking.
We've recently taken the Zapp to Walt Disney World via plane and the Zapp proved to be a great traveling stroller. We were able to roll up to the gate, unload, then fold up and store the stroller in the included bag and fit it in the overhead for the plane trip. In the parks, the stroller provided good shade from the florida sun but we added a Protect-a-Bub canopy to the stroller for improved sun protection. The stroller maneuvered the parks and the Disney bus system beautifully. We received many compliments on the stroller especially on the buses from parents struggling with their own cumbersome strollers.
The only thing we wished the Zapp had was either a suspension system or inflated tires. This may add some weight to the stroller but would probably make the ride more comfortable on rough terrain.
