Zippity Zapp

Author's Rating: Rating: 4/5 stars

Pros: Fast to open and small to collapse. Balance of sturdiness and convenience. Amazing to steer.

Cons: No storage. Wheels bit noisy. You must be aware of balance to avoid tipping.

The Bottom Line:
Good value for the handling, convenience and comfort.

Great alternative stroller for travel and convenience.

We bought this for majorly active days once my daughter was needed little more than a light backpack of a drink and toy. 3-5 year olds are unpredictable, they might walk a mile no problem or whine after 2 blocks.

So, when you are ready to give up the comfort strollers but are hesitant to make the trade to an umbrella or other convenience stroller because they are just to flimsy, and hurt your back to push you are ready for the Zapp because at this price point, it is totally reasonable.

Unlike MOST convenience umbrella style strollers, the Zapp steers very nicely, even with one hand provided that the terrain is reasonable even. Though it has two handles and collapses like an umbrella (yet even smaller) because the handles are joined by a folding joint, it is much more rigid and steers with one hand. Nice when you are opening doors or holding a coffee We found even very expensive umbrella strollers need both hands to steer a 3 year old or bigger and when tried the Zapp,. It is perfect for city use as it opens, closes and stores well.

Not ideal require a child to do a lot of napping in this stroller as it does not recline but has a mild slant backward for the odd snooze.

Certainly not ideal if you have a child who needs a space to diaper change and would also have a big diaper bag because of the design not having undercarriage storage.

We added a Mclaren stroller bag that fits most umbrella style strollers to permanently keep the rain canopy in and some odd things here and there. That's all it needed.

I live in a city where I often the subway and I could never get the stroller into the automated turn stiles even collapsed. Now my daughter hops out, I collapse it, and it's so easy to get through the turn stiles and pop it open on the other side.

I also recently found out that the material all comes off and you can buy adapters from Quinny for the Maxi Cosi car-seat which is pretty incredible for such a small frame.

Basically once you are ready for a convenience stroller the choices are: the Zapp for one handed handling and tiny size or a more expensive umbrella stroller with some light-weight storage basket but not the nicest handling or the cheap umbrella strollers which have no storage and terrible handling.

We have no regrets on the Zapp. My only caution is not to hang items on the handles if you to jumps out a lot and because it will tip when carrying a lighter child.
