Sansa beats the Nano
| Author's Rating: |
|
Pros: 4GB, Video playback, easy UI
Cons: Video sound quality, video file size
The Bottom Line:
I recommend this player because it's easy to use and small. The functions of it are great.
I have had this player for a week and I'm very glad with it. I tried out a friend's Nano and I couldn't find out how to go back to the "Now Playing" screen. With the Sansa that's easy. Click "Menu" if you're in the main menu.
Here's some info in detail..
=+-Music
~The sound quality is great. Maybe not for audiophiles though.
~Album art can be shown in full screen. Great feature.
~Volume goes quite high. At max, even studio headphones are really loud.
~Easy to rate songs. Just click the submenu button and choose "Rate Song"
=+-Video
~Plays at 15FPS. Smooth playback.
~Sound is always synced.
~The "Sansa Media Converter" converts videos to .MOV files. (But the size of the video goes up like 3x... Kinda bad.)
~Sound quality on videos is horrible. (But not if you customize it. anythingbutipod.com helps)
~Fun feature if you're bored.
=+-Photos
~Quality is good.
~Uses the Media Converter to upload photos. Takes about 1 second each photo.
~JPG format
~No pauses while going through photos.
=+-FM Radio - I don't use this at all... But I tried it out.
~Reception is good.
~Can be recorded.
=+-Recording
~Good microphone
~Can record FM Radio
=+-Settings
~Custom equalizer. (If you buy it currently or upgrade the firmware)
~USB mode can be selected.
~Volume can be set to High or Normal. Normal makes the max volume less than High.
~Date and Time
The player overall:
~When the brightness is set to middle, the screen is bright. When it's max, it's VERY bright.
~Scroll wheel is better than the iPod Clickwheel. (Well, for me anyways)
~Screen is pretty big for a player that size.
~Very durable.
What came bundled with it:
~Sansa-to-USB cable. (Used to transfer and charge)
~Media Converter CD
~Lanyard
~Headphones (Which I lost)
~Black Velvet Case
This player has some flaws and such, but most of it is great. I don't want and Ipod anymore. This player is the nano-killer.
