Pros: The speediest little ATA-100 I ever did own; Durable; Quiet; Slow to heat up
Cons: None
The Bottom Line:
Solidly priced and solidly built. If you need a hard drive at this size, this one should at least be seriously considered.
I've had this hard drive for about a year packed into an external enclosure and used as a backup drive. It has never disappointed. I purchased it as an upgrade to my previous backup drive, which was in severe need of replacement after it met an unceremonious, crashing (physical not mechanical) end. Within a week of getting this one a friend of mine sent it to what I thought would be the same fate, accidentally knocking off of a speaker while it was running. We both panicked. I picked it up, looked at it, tested it, and was relieved to find it worked just fine. It has continued to do so for the past year or so with no signs of trouble.
Immediate fears dispelled, it now gets tucked into my laptop bag and taken wherever my laptop goes. I've use it consistently, for a variety of applications, and for extended periods of time without problems. Add to that its being speedy, quite, competitively priced, coming with a five-year manufacturer's warranty, and being slow to heat up and you've little reason to look elsewhere for storage solutions at this size. You might find a cheaper one, but yo won't find one of better quality at just about any price, unless, of course, you buy a SATA drive, but that's just a given.
