Sony PRS-505 eBook Reader

Sony PRS-505 eBook Reader

The Reader from Sony is the perfect way to store and read digital books. With enough space for up to 160 eBooks, it has a long battery life and amazing paper-like screen. It’s smaller than the average paper back and easy to use.

Author's Review
My friends gift me Sony E-reader PRS-505 (silver case) and I’ve tested it for three weeks. Reader has important features for me: charging battery from USB cable, nice and sexy design, very small weight and new type of E-ink display that show text more clearly and brightly. But I’ve disappointed about 7500 page turns – on practice one charge cycle allow about 2500-3000 turns. It’s important when you want use device on long vacation without PC or laptop – you need to get charger – not always comfortably. PRS-505 have two type of flash cards, but I think memory stick is too expensive and my choice - SD card (my card 4Gb and reader work correctly). Reader support “collections” to organize book’s files, it’s not really convenient, I prefer PC folders structure. Sony can’t show FB2 ebook format, but you can convert your books into native LRF format fb2-lrf converter software. 505s model have nice feature that don’t present in 500s model: when you forgot turn off your devices off it will be turned off automatically. Nicely if you don’t want see blank screen of discharged device. As a result we have great device with small disadvantage which can’t prevent take pleasure of using this nice gadget.

Advantage:
Clear display
Very elegant design
Strong and safe silver case
200 Mb installed memory
Two type of flash card

Minuses:
Device doesn’t support FB2 format
Don’t support books collection like pc folder tree
